A very nice build and a great paint job.
I have this kit.. but I prefer desert colored vehicles.. partly because my airbrush is not good enough (neither am I) to paint these camouflage schemes. So, do any, or did any, exist in desert sand color?

Olivier: Your Leclerc came out looking real nice
Hisham: I don't know about desert sand colors, but you could paint yours in a U.N. white scheme.

Hey, Jeremy.. If I find that it has never been used in desert sand color, then the UN white will be my next choice... maybe a UNIFIL vehicle in the south of Lebanon. I just hope I can pull it off.. because it's kind of difficult to make a vehicle look "right" in white.

Olivier, I really enjoyed following your build. The finished model looks great. Your weathering is spot on.
One question. I've always had issues doing a camo job with Tamiya paints, as over spray has always been a issue. I've had much better results with Model Master Acrylics and enamels. What thinning ratio did you use with the Tamiya paints. I'm also assuming that you use X20-A to thin them.

Thank a lot guys for your kind comments.
Hisham, some tanks were painted sand and brown during trials in desert conditions but they not operational tanks. Later, when French deployed tanks in the Gulf for common exercises with UAE army for instance, the tanks were covered with some sand and brown camo nets over the 3-tone camo.
Joel, I don't use X-20 any longer since I've discovered that alcohol is good for the job. Concerning the ratio thinner/paint, for this camo I applied 80/20 approximately. As I don't use the pre-shading technique, I generally have a 70/30 ratio for the base color then I thinned a bit more the covering ones.
Karl, figures are not my favorite part of modeling but I must admit they give some life to a model.

Thanks for the information, Olivier... I guess I'll try to build it as a white UNIFIL vehicle in the South of Lebanon.

You're welcome. If you go with a UNIFIL Leclerc feel free to take your inspiration in some of my pictures. You'll see that very few of the Leclerc were plain white after some months patrolling the Lebanese border.
