I'd say a competitor for the crown. How did you go about making the hatches on the turret movable?

Outstanding work on the whitewash and weathering Eric!

A lot of us strive for results like this, but fall a bit short despite our best efforts. Would you be interested in putting together a step-by-step tutorial for Armorama describing how you successfully created your whitewash using the hairspray method as well as how you created the accompanying mud and streak effects?

hi matt, thx for ur reply. here are the steps

use super glue to fix the wire.on the bottom, not too much, otherwise it will run into gaps and glue everything together.
easy right

Thank u guys. i'm such fool that lost one of the wheels this morning. but luckily found it in the garbage can before dustman take it away.
well it's busy today and no big news about the tank.i just paint a tool box and find a resin part of supply stuff.

i like using zippo oil to do washes, cos it dries quite fast

though unfinished, the wood effect looks OK

i found this part in my "dustbin" well matched

by the way,i got an idea to make a scene like this

what do you say guys, is it a little dull?

hi guys. after a week's hard work, now the panzer is about to finish.
i was so eager to see the final result that didn't take photos step by step.
this is the upload
use the same method to whitewash the wheels

tracks before painting

dark redbrown basecoat. there's an accident when i try to use mineral spirit to fix the pigment, the tracks just broke into pieces. and that's really a nightmare for next procedure.

halfway done parts

ok, maybe it's a little fast, but i have to jump to the final looking, didn't take step pictures.sorry

here we go

the snow was made of baking soda

by the way i'm building the scene now
it will take about a week to finish, here are some process
snow will be added later

that stick is a unfinished roadsign

this is what the scene about, panzer3 of 502 is approaching to leningrad
here tank crews are taking a break at a supply depot

i hope u like it

tomorrow i'll post some steps about how i made this base

I would love to see a step by step of one of your builds sometime. I really like how the snow turned out, but I can't use baking soda because it will attract ants and other bugs into the house.

Eric:

REALLY COOL! I mean COLD! Brrrrrr.

I love it - very inspiring in all sorts of ways. You really should do a hair-spray tutorial! Those sprocket wheels are super fine, in MO. I just "primed" / base-coated some StuG III sprockets last nite - seeing yours, I'm going to work them over pretty carefully and hope I get a little of that finely-worn effect you have!

And that snow... baking soda, eh? Looks real, to me! The obvious question: how did you stick it on?

@ Jeremy; Baking soda (a water-soluble "salt" - sodium bicarbonate) by itself or applied with some form of non-food glue or vehicle is not likely to attract the ants. Baking soda - I always think of "Arm & Hammer" in the 'frige - offers no energetic value for those hungry little pests... The glue one might use could be another matter!

We'll have to see what Eric used as glue!

To sal and Bob
Baking soda mixed with white glue and water. 40%soda+40water+20%glue.
that mixtrue is just fine to make realistic snow, using sharp tweezer to remove unwanted soda after it dries. the effect is permanent, but the "snow"maybe end up with problems like turning yellow, months of years later. that's depend on the quality of soda.we can simply avoid that problem by adding a tiny little of tamiya's white to the mixture.
afterwards, brush some prue soda onto the dry mixture. and a beautiful shining snow effect is achieved.

Eric, I've been following this build since the start. All I can say is to just join the chorus of: "Excellent work!"

As someone already stated, your work trully inspires me to take a long look at my own builds and think hard before the next step.......

I'll just add my vote for requesting a step by step of your hairspray/snow camo and rust/rain streak effects (Zippo fuel?????)... Really would like to be able to pull off such an excellent effect!

Keep posting man!
