Hi Jon,
It's a very ancient small set from Show modelling, made for Tamiya's SdKfz 7/2, apart from the horseshoes it only had the mesh for the rear, I'll guess it's 15 years old, it's one of the first kits I ever made.
Cheers Rick

Hi. The roadwheels, sprockets and return rollers have been attached and set on a piece of glass to ensure they contact the ground[tracks]. Mig pigments have been applied dry first before the tracks were attached. More pigments will be applied after the tracks are on following the wonderful photos that Frenchy supplied. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. If anyone is interested, there are two photo-etch horeshoes remaining that Rick graciously supplied. If you are interested, PM me your address and I will send them off. Wingman out.

Hello. Both horeshoes have been claimed, thank you Rick. Camo has been applied with Tamiya paints. Next up, a few decals and some dusty weathering. All hatches will be open. The large rear door on the right on the roof will remain closed, the other one open with the large rear door open as well. The gun barrels came hollowed out in the kit. Looking forward to attaching the tan armor. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hi again, sorry for the second post. What color do you suggest for the tracks? I think they could look a little better. Wingman out.

The Tuna Boat is looking nice so far. Good job on the camo.
For the tracks, I would do them black with a light sand wash, then come back and pick out the metal portions with some light steel drybrushing. Tracks in the desert have very little rust and get polished by the sand pretty quickly.

Nice work so far.... very tidy paintwork
A few small points... it appears you missed the Commanders' (Skippers?) forward optic just behind the driver/Cox's position?
I used Voyager Models TE030 Military Vehicles Weld Seams to cover the join between the top & bottom half, but like you, I'm going to cover most of it with the EAAK armour! I'll post some pics soon.
Good job on yours, I't will inspire me to finish....
Still wrestling with my tracks..... a whole evening just on 90% of 1 side... paint & track pads yet. Left to set overnight & hope it doesn't fall apart when painting!
Quick question Gino, the spare track link carried on the rear quarters, black, rust or camo'd over?
Look forward to seeing it fully dressed,
I'm building an early one, so it will be 3 colour camo with plain green EAAK, as the only photos I've seen (so faaar...) of Sand EAAK on 3 colour camo is on RAMS/RS vehicles...

Quick answer :
The pictured amtrac is a LVTP-7 but it should not matter too much ( http://www.ferreamole.it/images/lvtp7/lvtp7_01.htm )

Hi Jon, thanks for the kind comments. I was planning on trying to install that after the painting and the dullcoating. My tracks went together well. I still think they could look better. I didn't use a jig or anything. The fit was tight that I didn't have to use one. Every once in a while, some links didn't click together for nothin'. The photo-etch exhaust guard and engine screens are really nice. Love the detail on this model. This is my first HobbyBoss kit and I like it. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hi. The rear door has been weathered inside and out. You won't see the exterior since it will be down, this is practice. Any suggestions for improvement? The MRE boxes are from Tamiya's Modern Equipment Set. Cool little items. Thanks for looking , Wingman out.

Hello. Here is an updated photo. Like the contrast between the sand color and the NATO colors. The top left door will be open. The other closed. Need to fix the broken handle in the back and add one to the other door. Wingman out.

Thanks for the kind words Seb. The parts were cleaned up and primed and topcoated with ModelMaster Armor Sand. That was left to dry. A piece of old kitchen sponge was locked in a pair of tweezers and dipped in German Grey with most of the paint being wiped off onto a towel. I lightly tapped the sponge on and around the edges being sure to turn the sponge in a different direction to avoid the scratching looking all the same. The armor is bolted down to small square attachment points on the vehicle. I painted the armor prior to attaching it to the vehicle, there are nice little rasied points on the bottom of the armor that key in nicely to the attachments on the vehicle. Hope this helps. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hi there,
I have followed this and am very interested, I built the version with the crane, the only problem I found was that the interior decals didn`t really make sense, is that the same with yours?
Although I have an M1070 to build, I am waiting for the engine to become available so, you have inspired me to get one of these, they look souch big beasts.
Regards,
Mick.
BTW, I used the metal tracks for mine, as I got so frustrated with the kit ones.

Yes, they are also seen in overall sand with sand armor.
They are also in overall camo with sand armor panels as well.
And overall green with green armor too. I think these vehicles were from PrePo afloat stocks out of Diego Garcia.
What I haven't seen is an overall sand vehicle with camo or green armor. I'm sure they are out there, I just can't find any pics of them....Frenchy??

Looks good Wingman. The only thing I would change is the armor. EAAK armor edges are rounded on all plates. Also the lines between each plate has gap. I should know I have put that armor on and off a number of times.I cant wait to see it finished.
