Looks good Wingman. The only thing I would change is the armor. EAAK armor edges are rounded on all plates. Also the lines between each plate has gap. I should know I have put that armor on and off a number of times.I cant wait to see it finished.

YAT-YAS

Thanks Joe. The plates are already glued down. Thanks for the info. THANK YOU FOR SERVING!!!!!!!!Wingman out.

Thanks Frenchy, wonderful photographs. I have the decals "Iraq Your Balls" that came with this kit. Very cool.Didn,t realize how much rust these things generated. Thanks again, Wingman out.

Hello again. Can anyone tell me if the area inside the props would be a light rust color. The doors were accidentally glued in the open position. Thanks for the help, Wingman out.

Maybe these would help :

Water jets are usually shut when operating inland, but I've seen pics showing them open far away from the shore

You have seen them open only while parked, and probally on the "ramp" (staging area/ maintence bay). The jets open while in water mode, and also while in water mode the plentums close up (the air intake and exhaust vents at the top front of the vehicle). When parking the vehicle for a long period of time, we would put the vehicle in water mode just long enough for the jets to open and the plentums to close up. This would keep rain water from getting down into the engine compartment. That is the ONLY reason you would see them open away from the water.

Thanks for your input Andy. It was probably the case for 99% of the pics I had in mind. I just had some doubts about the 1% pics like this one :

Could it be just a breakdown of the right water jet ?

aahh... I wasnt in Iraq, however im pretty sure that many of the vehicles had the water mode disablabled. What you see there is probally from somebody hitting it and forcing it open. OR, the jets did tend to open/close indipendently sometimes when going between modes, so maybe whomever the driver was got in a hurry, and once he heard the plentum doors open up, he flicked it over into land mode before both jets were fully closed. Who knows..

you will notice that the track in the background to the right has both jets closed...

Thanks for the explaination. I must admit I've got about 2000 OIF AAV-related pics and only 2 or 3 showing such a configuration...

Around the prop would be green. And the prop itself is aluminum.

Roger that Joe, thanks. I've attached the left side armor and did some more paint scratching, horseshoe added. Mig pigments were applied dry. This kit came with only two antenna mounts, which stations should I attach them too? Thanks to those that suppiled the info on aftermarket mounts. Should the spring area of the mount be a natural metal color, somewhat dark? Thanks for all the help from everyone,Wingman out.

I might try applying some pigemts mixed with alcohol shot via the airbrush onto the front sides where the footstep is located. I've tried this before with no harm to the airbrush.Wingman out.

Thanks for the great photographs Frenchy, exactly what I was looking for. I'll apply black first and then dry brush with a steel color, maybe toned down with some raw umber artist oils. That one photo looks like that things going to sink like a stone once it leaves the boat. Again, great photos, Wingman out.

Thanks Gino. Still a bit more to go. Would like to find some 1/35 rope to drape on the front. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Nice! I like it. The only thing missing from the armor are the springs for the cargo hatches. The springs are so you can open the hatches easier cause of the extra wieght from the armor.

Thanks Joe. Are they covered with a piece of metal that's rounded on the top? Wingman out.

Here are some of my pictures. One has the Eaak spring and the other is the spring and cover. The piece itself is about 3 feet long. The spring is made up of bars that when open they twist. when you close the hatch it relieve the tension and then you can close the hatch. I hated closring the hatches with those springs. if you had a good spring and werent careful you ran the risk of getting knock out or losing a finger. Hope these pictures help. Oh yeah starboard side gose closest to the turret and portside to the rear of the vehicle.
