Count me in, but i will be taking the high road on this one. As i don't usually have that much german or russian armor in my stash. So i will be doing a Yak-3 from East Prussia, Fall of 1944
Hello Jon,
The Greater German Reich, IE: East Prussia, Austria, Germany and any other places that are part of the it are off limits for this campaign.
They will be part of Blitz 6 I think. So your YAK-3 will have to be in Poland or Western Russia.
Sorry about your plans,
Cheers,
Bruce

Tamiya makes a great starter T-34 kit. It's ridiculously simple and could give you a great idea of how they come together. They go for about $20 and look great with or without any extras. I've heard there's a piece that doesn't belong on the WWII era T-34, but it's nothing serious.

Hello everyone, joined up for my first ever campaign build. Do have a question, would the Balkana area fall into this build? I have an Italian tank I'm wanting to build as I literally have none in my collection. If not I can shift my idea to another area of Russia.

Italy did send some troops to Russia. Depends on what tank you have, but the ones I know that were present there are the L3 tankettes, L6/40 and the 47/32 Semovente (basicaly an open top version of the L6 with a 47mm gun).

I have Bronco's CV3/35 flame tank I'm looking at building. I know a few of these were used in the Balkans, but not sure about the rest of the eastern front. One reason why I wanted to make sure the Balkans area was okay for this campaign.

Chris,
While you await for the Administrator to make a decision;
Considering by the time the Russians had reached the Balkan area of fighting, Italy had surrendered. Those few troops still loyal to Mussolini (RSI), were busy holding off the allied advance. I also don't believe Russia ever set foot on Italian soil.
I think it is possible the flame version of the tankette could of been sent to Russia as part of their first group, arriving there during mid/late summer of 1941. There was a battalion of 61xL3 tankettes divided amongst a HQ and four companies. For light tank battalions, the norm was to have a flame-tank platoon (4 vehicles) for each company.

Thanks Jack for the info.
I'm not really up on Italian history other than what little I have found out in the last couple of days. I have found plenty of pictures of the standard L3 in russia, but nothing on the flame version other than a few documents stating they were there.

Hello Chris,
The Balkans is out for this campaign. The CV3/35 were used by German troops for anti-partisan operations in Russia.
I am not sure if any Italian Troops were involved in the anti-partisan operations, But the German Troops used obsolete
armor for such operations such as the PZ 1, PZ 2, PZ 38 etc.
I hope this will help you. I am looking in my books for any photo's or reference about it used on the front lines.
Cheers,
Bruce

Thanks bruce for the heads up. I think I'm going to change what I was planning on build and take the safer route. I just got in the mail today Trumpeter's new SU-152 and it's a really nice kit. I'll save the CV3/35 flamer for later until I can find more info on if it was used in russia or not.

Great !
Bruce, I have 3 choices for this Campaign, let me know if they are ok:
- JSU-122
- Beutepanzer T-34
- Marder III
I hope they're all ok, since I have no clue which one I'm gonna pick..

I just joined.
Let me know if the Trumpeter Sturer Emil is okay to use in this Campaign.
It's just sitting there needing to be built and I need something else to do!

Hello John & Jeff,
The following are allowed:
Sturer Emil only 2 made 1 captured at Stalingrad with 22 kill marks. The other was not deployed and destroyed.
Beute Panzer T-34 means captured armored vehicle. Make sure it is a 1941 to 1943 tank.
Marder lll Sd.Kfz. 138 H/M and the Sd. Kfz. 139.
The JSU-122/ISU-122 is out, Sorry.
Cheers,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce, sounds great.
I even have an aluminum gun for it too so it's a good fit to get it built. Finally.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.
I was thinking of maybe a German recon unit taking a break while waiting for the rest of the unit to catch up.
I have a mostly completed damaged Valentine. Can I use it as an accessory in a scene? If the Valentine is too much to ask, howabout a Soviet 45mm antitank gun? It's mostly completed but I'd be using it as an accessory.

Hello Alex,
You can use a completed/almost complete kit as an accessory.
But you have to post a photo of what kit you are building( with a date showing it was not started before the start of the campaign) as your main build.
You can have the Valentine in the dio with your main build (PZ IV or such) going by it or figures looking it over.
I hope this answered your question, If not PM me,
Cheers,
Bruce

Bruce, I don't think I'll be doing the Valentine. For what I am contemplating it may be too much. I think I would be looking more towards smaller kits to accessories like the 45mm gun and BMW bikes. I just have to decide on a focal kit to build. Thanks though. I know now what will be accepted and what won't.

After further reading, which apparently i failed to do with my first build of choice. I now have decided on the IL-2 w/skis. From what i have read it was used in the winter of 42 to harass the germans in the city of Leningrad. Hope this one will work for this campaign.
Thanks,
Jon

I may have to get another barrel and brake.
I just checked and this one is aluminum, but is smaller than the kits plastic piece? Hmmmm, don't remember where I got it from but I have located some with a two separate pieces so maybe they are the correct ones.
It's looks like the right one, but ...
Oh well!

Hello Jose & Conor,
Yes to both of your builds.
@ Jon,
You aircraft build is OK also. Sorry about the late reply.
As long as you do not do anything in East Prussia, West Prussia, Germany or Austria, Anything else should be OK.
I wonder if anyone is going to do either of the Warsaw Uprising's?
I am going to start a new thread for this campaign around the 20th or so for the Official Thread.
I have asked Jeremy (Von Hengest) to watch over the campaign as I am going to have the nails on my left foot removed on the 27th, So I will be off line for about 7-10 days.
If you have any questions, Please ask here or PM me,
Cheers,
Bruce
Thank God for 50 year old scotch for the off time.
