OK, some variations on the ribbon theme proposed by Pat McGrath have been making the rounds. Here are the three I’ve come up with. Let me know what you like and I’ll send it off to Osprey for approval, then maybe we’ll have a ribbon for our campaign!!

1.
2.
3.

Number 2 is best (that doesn't sound right ) the shading makes the others hard to read.

Phill,

Actually, #2 is the one that's all white, #3 is the one with lighter shading

#2 and 3 both look real good

Pat: I just picked that up myself and really like it. Only thing I would like to see different is to have more information added to these books

Howdy Y'all

I think I would like to do an E-Boat vs MTB theme. I'm not certain yet though, lots of good choices. I like the discussion on ribbons, I like #2 and 3 also.

I have the Panther vs T-34 and the M3 vs Panzer III books for sale as a lot on EBay. Hope someone can use them.

Y'all take care,
Don "Lakota"

Well, I went with the lighter, shaded ribbon as I worked hard to get it to look like that, so there!

It appears to have met with approval from Osprey, who has given us a very nice plug on their Blog:

http://www.ospreypublishing.com/blog/Earn_your_Osprey_Duel_Campaign_Ribbon/

I guess we’re official now for sure!

Here’s the current enlistee list with book (if chosen) and current KitMaker site (if known):

Remco/4-BO-Green: La-5/7 vs. Fw 190 with Paul, on Aeroscale

Pat/exer: Panther vs. Sherman, on Armorama
Jim/goldenpony: USN Cruiser vs. IJN Cruiser, on ModelShipwrights
Duncan/Klinker: Sherman Firefly vs. Tiger with Jeremy, on Aeroscale
Paul/ludwig113: Hurricane I vs. Bf 110, on Aeroscale
Michael/MichaelSatin: Can’t make up my mind yet!
Jan/MrMox: U-Boats vs. Destroyer Escorts on ModelShipwrights
Burak/Panzerace
Paul/ppawlak1: La-7 vs. Fw 190 with Remco, on Aeroscale
Simon/RedDuster: E-Boat vs. MTB, on ModelShipwrights

Phill/WARDUKWNZ: T-34/85 vs. M26 Pershing, on Armorama
Sean/windysean: P-51 vs. Fw 190 with Jesper, on Aeroscale

Don’t worry about it if you haven’t chosen a Duel yet, of course. We’re still several months off, after all! On the other hand, I know there are several people who expressed strong interest but haven’t enlisted yet (not naming names here [Jeremy!]) so if you want in, be sure to sign up!

And as we bid a fond farewell to August, an updated list:

Remco/4-BO-Green: La-5/7 vs. Fw 190 with Paul, on AeroScale
Aaron/611_sqd, on AeroScale
Damien/AusieReg: Seafire vs. A6M Zero with Luciano on AeroScale
Bob/Bigrip74
Pat/exer: Panther vs. Sherman, on Armorama
Jim/goldenpony: USN Cruiser vs. IJN Cruiser, on ModelShipwrights
Duncan/Klinker: Sherman Firefly vs. Tiger with Jeremy, on AeroScale
Jessica/Jessie C.: SPAD VII vs. Albatros D.III, on AeroScale
Luciano/Littorio: Seafire vs. A6M Zero with Damien on AeroScale
Paul/ludwig113: Hurricane I vs. Bf 110, on AeroScale
Michael/MichaelSatin: Centurion vs. T-55 (probably), watching all sites
Jan/MrMox: U-Boats vs. Destroyer Escorts on ModelShipwrights
Burak/Panzerace
Paul/ppawlak1: La-7 vs. Fw 190 with Remco, on AeroScale
Simon/RedDuster: E-Boat vs. MTB, on ModelShipwrights
Jesper/SGTJKJ: P-51 vs. Fw 190 with Sean, on AeroScale
Andy/Torchy: Spitfire vs. Bf 109 (he’s doing a 109, looking for a partner), on AeroScale
Jeremy/vonHengest: Sherman Firefly vs. Tiger with Duncan, on Armorama
Phill/WARDUKWNZ: T-34/85 vs. M26 Pershing, on Armorama
Sean/windysean: P-51 vs. Fw 190 with Jesper, on AeroScale

Don’t worry about what I’ve got you listed for here, you’re not tied down at all. We still have 4 months to start and if you change your mind about what you want to build, it’s no problem (though you should, of course, clear it with your partner first if you have one!) Meanwhile Andy on AeroScale is planning a 1/32 Bf 109E-3 and is looking for a Spitfire I or II partner, if you’re interested.

Shaping up well, I’m really looking forward to it. Now I just need to decide what I want to do! At this moment I’m leaning towards the Centurion vs. T-55, Golan 1973. I have the AFV Centurion Sho’t Kal just barely started and the Tamiya T-55 still a blank slate. If, however, I somehow score a Wingnut Wings 1/32 Albatros D.V, my course could change rapidly. Hmm, we’ll see…

If you haven’t signed up yet we'd love to have you, go here!

Hello,i'd like to join but i dont know anyone that would like to do a pair with me?
Or do we get assigned?

I've been thinking of making either t-55 or a Sherman.

Kind regards,Sven.

Sven,

No assignments here, it's all voluntary! Now that you've made your interests known, let's see if anyone bites.

Just to narrow things down, when you say T-55, would you be doing a Syrian one? And would you have any Sherman in particular in mind?

Sven,

I do have the AFV Centurion S'hot kal and could be interested in teaming up with you. I said above that it is barely started but giving that some thought I realized that all I've done is some work on the running gear. Given that I have the earlier ('67) version too, I could just swap those parts out and have an unstarted one!

I HAVE managed to get my mitts on a Wingnut Albatros V, so I'll be doing the S.E.5a vs. Albatros D.V on my own, but what the heck, it's a year long campaign
Consider me your partner on the Centurion vs. T-55 build unless someone else wants to team up you on it (I don't want to be greedy!)

Well, the first of the year (and the start of our campaign) is 2 ¾ months away, so here’s a bump to see if we can get some more people interested! So far we have 25 members but more are always welcome. Here’s the list of those who have posted what they plan to build so far:

Remco/4-BO-Green: La-5/7 vs. Fw 190 with Paul, on AeroScale
Rob Storey/29Foxtrot: Camel vs. Dr.1 looking for partner on AeroScale
Aaron/611_sqd, on AeroScale
Damien/AusieReg: Seafire vs. A6M Zero with Luciano on AeroScale
Bob/Bigrip74
Pat/exer: Panther vs. Sherman, on Armorama
Jim/goldenpony: USN Cruiser vs. IJN Cruiser, on ModelShipwrights
Duncan/Klinker: Sherman Firefly vs. Tiger with Jeremy, on AeroScale
Jessica/Jessie C.: SPAD VII vs. Albatros D.III, on AeroScale
Luciano/Littorio: Seafire vs. A6M Zero with Damien on AeroScale
Paul/ludwig113: Hurricane I vs. Bf 110, on AeroScale
Michael/MichaelSatin: Centurion vs. T-55 with Sven and SE5a vs. Albatros D.V, watching all sites
Jan/MrMox: U-Boats vs. Destroyer Escorts on ModelShipwrights
Burak/Panzerace
Paul/ppawlak1: La-7 vs. Fw 190 with Remco, on AeroScale
Simon/RedDuster: E-Boat vs. MTB, on ModelShipwrights
Jesper/SGTJKJ: P-51 vs. Fw 190 with Sean, on AeroScale
Sven/Sarjacek: Centurion vs. T-55 with Michael on Armorama
Trevor/Snorri23: P-47 vs. Bf 109G/K, interested in a partner, on AeroScale
Andy/Torchy: Spitfire vs. Bf 109 (he’s doing a 109, looking for a partner), on AeroScale
Alcatraz Logan/vertigo: unknown on Aeroscale
Jeremy/vonHengest: Sherman Firefly vs. Tiger with Duncan, on Armorama
Phill/WARDUKWNZ: T-34/85 vs. M26 Pershing, on Armorama
Sean/windysean: P-51 vs. Fw 190 with Jesper, on AeroScale

Looks like a very interesting spread! Andy has indicated on AeroScale that he’d like to do a Bf 109E and is looking for a partner to do a Spitfire I/II and Rob has a Fokker Dr.1 and would love a buddy with a Sopwith Camel. Also Sven is going to do a Syrian T-55 and needs an Israeli Centurion from 1973 (I’ve volunteered to do this, but if anyone else is into it I’m willing to step aside since I have my own pair I’d like to build too.) Anyone want to jump into any of these? Pedro and Trevor, do you have a deal? If so Pedro needs to enlist.

Thanks all!!

Gee what timing, just joined the Airfix Club and got the 1/72 F86F and MIG 15 Club Pack, so I would enjoy joining this Campaign.

Thanks

Kevin,

And we'd love to have you! But unfortunately, and for reasons I'm unaware of, Osprey hasn't done a Duel volume on the F-86 and MiG-15 (yet. Maybe they're saving it for volume 50 or something). Since the Osprey Duel series is the campaign theme, your Club Pack won't qualify. Unless they release or announce that volume before or during the campaign, in which case you'd be good to go!
