I had a look at the Cromwell and Centaur Dozer at Bovington at the weekend. The various screw heads you mention are almost completely invisible under a layer of paint on those vehicles. They fit their holes so closely that there are no discernible gaps around them, are recessed about 1mm below the surface and the slots seem to fill easily with paint. I had to bend down to let the light catch them to even see them.

I think on my Centaur I might try just drilling very slight dimples and scribing the screw slots. Assuming I ever get round to building it, that is. Going back to A27L vs A27M, RMASG Centaur IVs were re-fitted with Meteor engines before D Day and technically became Cromwells but retained their Centaur designation. They were only in action for about 10 days and were never used again, so I don't suppose anyone was bothered.



Hello,Peter! I agree with you. It is not necessary to show all that bolts. They really could be seen only at closer look. But in my opinion most of Cromwells from museums has been painted 2-3 times. So we have there 2 or more paint layers.
For example Cromwell from Latrun.

It was very difficult to make correct boxes. Some little progress.

Example.

Box covers with piano hinges. Workable.

Progress.



I will try to do my best with them. What do you think. What can I put in there? Need some advises!

But I haven't found out what exactly ammo boxes I need to byu for Cromwell. Panzer Art gives many variants of ammo boxes.

Greetings! It is very hard to work with Cromwell boxes. I try to do my best, but all those locks.... Almost have finished one of three. It is not finished. I have fixed box cover with glue. Then I will remove it for interior pfinting.







And the main thing in the tank! Griddle!

I have finished working with boxes. They are ready. I was very pleased to work with Eureka's cables. They are perfect!

Hello,Nick! I am very pleased, thank you! Unfortunatelly,I have stopped working with hull because I am too busy at work. I hope this won't be for a long time. I have some mistakes with hull. I will correct them and them will work with turret. I will post as soon as I will have any progress.

Last chain was added to the hull. Hull is ready.


I have started to make a basket on a turret. It is rather hard. this is intermediate result.

Hello! Yes, I am getting closer. But this will be very difficult painting project. That's why I have decided to biult and paint Mark.IV from Takom for training.


Maybe you should build another Cromwell, but out of the box, and use that to practice on. You could display it next to this one so everyone could see all of the improvements you made. It would be easier than listing all of your improvements, which would take pages LOL!
