I recommend Tankograd's Technical Manual 6008 for some good background info and detail shots

LOL, Mine arrived yesterday.
I never had this kit as a kid, as it was way out of my price range back then, and I missed out on it's last reissue years ago. Hopefully my modeling skills have improved enough to bring up this ancient kit up to better standards.
Maybe this time around we'll see some after market stuff produced to help the build. Wim did an excellent job on updating his kit. And I guess I'll have to pick up the Tankograd's book also.

That's what was great about building models as a Baby Boomer-era kid:
building for the sheer fun factor and not worrying about a penlight carrying rivet counter pointing out mistakes.
I gotta get me one to go with the M-52 and Skysweeper 75 mm AAA Gun I plan on butchering again.

Could you imagine the weight a turned barrel would be?

Hmm...there are only just so many ways of designing an artillery piece, but, I don't see the resemblance. The carriage has some similarity to the German K5(e) railway gun.
