Hi Gentlemen,

Fred - are you refering to the antennas on the outside or wires on the inside of the fighting compartment? im going to add wire to the antenna mounts on outside.

Matt - Thank you for your kind words. and for following along. i appreciate it.

Mike - I went ahead and filled the seams. just tried to use a little common sence. even though common sence isnt so common for me. Thx Mike for your nice words. that means alot to me. your Stug Rocks Man!!!

i have got the base coat on. i tried to get a color tone of the Stug at the patton museum. i love that tank. im gona highlight some of the flat panels a bit too. i tried the black replacement barrel look but doesnt seem right to me so im gona paint it base color too. here are a couple pics.

Gary this looks great !

The interior looks very realistic and indicates just the right amount of wear and tear.

I hope that my Panzer 2 looks as good when I post my (late) update

Definitely something to be proud of. I would try my hand at one of these, but I think your build would put mine to shame. Guess I'll just stick with my SS builds.

I am the proud recipient of this model when it is finished, and I just can't wait to add it to my curio cabinet. I got to see it in person last night and the photos simply do not do it justice. The interior is unbelievable, and the paint thus far is spot on.

Brilliant work Gary!

Hi All,

Steven - Thanks alot man! I have had a great time building this kit but scratch building parts of the interior for the first time has been fun and very satisfying. i now feel confident to try another interior on a future build. on your Pz. update...better (LATE) than never! looking forward to your update man.

Matt - Thanks for the kind comments. i would definately recommend this kit. i agree with the SS AVF's. theres alot of cool stuff in that subject!

Nephew - SLOW DOWN there Mr. Guerry! i want to see what this Stuh looks like in my display case first. then we can negosiate a delivery time.....Just kidding! Hope i can have it done by Xmas.

Thanks All

Thanks Gary for sharing your build with us. I liked it so much that I went out and bought the kit myself to round out my collection of Sug III's & IV's. I'll use your build as a tutorial. Thanks again and have a GREAT Christmas !

Gary,

Your StuH is looking really good! I like the base color you're using for the dark yellow along with the pre-shading. Very nice.

Maybe I missed it in an earlier post - But are those the kit tracks? Excellent job with them!

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the comments man! the tracks are the kit magic tracks. i dont know why i didnt post pics of the tracks in proggress. i actually set down and did the tracks in one setting and let them dry overnight and then painted them. guess i just rushed through and not once thought to take pics. oh well!

Thanks

Hi Matt,
Yes ive painted the bolt cutters to resemble bakelite. the wooden handles will recive wood grain and oil treatments. once im done the bolt cutter handles will be a little darker. Thanks for looking Matt.

You covered your beautiful interior I could never do that with the amount of work you put into it.

Hi Gary,

The Panzer 2 goes well and an update will follow tonight.

I like the decals, they look painted on, that zim. surface looks like a nightmare to decal onto and you have done an excellent job.

Completely off topic, I am planning a super build log after Christmas a comparison between a 16th Tamyia KingTiger and a 16th Trumpter KingTiger with all the Aber improvement sets. I think I am insane and to my knowledge it has never been done before.

My Panzer 1a took eight Months, The new build log will take at least a year and a half to two years. Plus I am planning on doing other builds as I go along.

WOW, I seriously can not wait for that! Then again as a modeler, you have to be pretty patient!
Any chance there are some interior kits for tamiya's char B1? Just have to ask

Gary,

It's looking really good! I think you have a winner with your display idea and general composition too.

FWIW, in regards to your comment about some more light chipping, I'd say go for it. There seems to be a bit of inconsistancy right now between the interior wear and lack of it on the exterior, so I think some exterior wear and tear that matches the amount on the interior is in order.

I don't think you necessarily need a lot of exterior wear, just enough to carry over the look from the inside to the outside (or vice versa). I'd suggest maybe some light weathering too, but that's more of style thing (and my personal preferences) rather than an inconsistancy or critisism. Your display method certainly allows for a credible presentation without much weathering.

Easy for me to say, but things that catch my eye are the stark black rubber color on the spare road wheels and lack of wear on the drive sprocket teeth and "working surface" of the idler wheel. The rear hull BK has its white toned down nicely with a bit of a dust glaze, but that contrasts pretty harshly with the lack of dust on the spare wheels. And you have a nice look on the dust and dirt on the tracks, but no corresponding "schmutz" on the road wheels. These are the areas that I think could benefit with just a bit more weathering.

Of course, this is still a WIP, so I understand you're dialing in the final look. Please just take these points in the spirit of friendly observations from a second set of eyes. I'm just appreciating the work and results that you're on track to get here and would feel bad if I didn't say something just in case.

Happy modeling and Merry Christmas!

PS: While looking back at your pics, I had a thought about the superstructure roof section displayed separately- I don't know how much additional detail you added to the inside bottom of it, but you might thing about using a small piece of morror under it to reflect its inside bottom for the viewers. You might be able to get a small mirror that's just the right size or cut a piece that's a good size.

Anyways- just another idea...

Hi Mike,

man i really appreciate all your advise and expertice! and thanks for all the props. too! last night late i got the wheels and spares dusted a bit and today ive built the throat mics just need to paint and install them. as far as chipping i had to keep in mind that the Stuh actually belongs to my nephew. he asked me to build it for his collection. he really didnt want to go with the chipping on the exterior, however after discussing it with him he gave the goahead to do some chipping in relevent areas. just not too much. as for the roof it has no detail underneath, just white paint. when im finished ill probably start a new topic, "Stuh 42 finished".

I respect all comments from you and everyone. i definately take the advise and feedback constructively. im here to learn new tricks, techniqes, and ideas aswell as meet people such as yourself, of whom ive learned a great deal from. THX! And merry Christmas to you and yours!

Gary: do you have any idea what trouble your build has got me into? I shared the photos with my dad and now he expects ME to do one just as well or better! I, on the other hand, know better. So, he can expect his in about two years. Yes, that will be two years of constant work and quite a few trying to reproduce one that even comes close to your build. But, I can assauge him by getting out my pzIV. I think my dad is finally starting to see the reasons we build. Build, build, build, never sleep. And a few cuts, gluing our fingers to everything in sight, and cursing the carpet monster, we have something that hopefully doesn't look like a pile of glued dog poo. I have a great amount of respect for you and will be following your future builds.

Hi Matt,

Come on now Matt, your making me blush! First, of all thanks so much for your kind words and for following this build. ive learned alot and will have more confidence going forward. secondly, ARRRGGG!!!...that d*mn carpet monster! he has quite the appetite

Matt im sure your father will be very proud of your build. i know it must seem crazy to some people how he spend so many hours, cutting, sanding, fitting, glueing,etc.etc. and it can be hard to explain to some. i just know that when i do this hobby it keeps me sane in many ways. its nice to be able to shutout the world for awhile and wind up with something to be proud of.

Thanks again Matt for your input and comments. means alot.

Gary
