Sorry - no videos of the box opening with Richard Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra (otherwise known as the theme music to 2001 A Space Odyssey ) I find opening a new box of resin to be a private thing. It's like uncorking that vintage bottle of wine - savoring the bouquet, noting the consistency in the color, letting it rest while you examine the label, hopefully finding no bubbles...
This kit delivers. If you're waiting for plastic, you may want to take on an evening gig stuffing envelopes and earn yourself some more coin - it ain't gonna get any better than this.
Tonight I arbitrarily opened just a few of the bags. The first I'll call bag one. It's the one that seemed to have the most parts:
This is from the same bag. Note how they thoughtfully included TWO steering wheels - I guess in case you break one in the cleaning process:
In spite of what a few detractors on M-L have said about Legend, I couldn't seem to find any warped or broken pieces. At all. These are the finer pieces in the kit - all intact:
The bumper even has detail on the back side:
And here's an advantage to a resin kit - you can't get detail like this in plastic without multiple mold seams. This hood piece (packed separately) speaks for itself:
Time to do a bit of clean up tonight. There's plenty more to come.

You'll love it. Things are going remarkably quickly. I already have all of the large parts from the first bag cleaned, plus the hood, the main chassis frame, and the troop compartment tub. (not pictured)
I've started the assembly a little out of order, but it's going together very well.

Hi Kuba,
I don't want to speak for Robert's technique for cleaning casting blocks, but I use my bench grinder!
It takes some getting used to as the grinder is meant for metal, but it really shaves the blocks right down to a small sandable stub.
Its also helpful to prime the entire part and casting block first...that way you can see your progress while you are grinding away! I will have this technique on my "Tips and Tricks" page on the site soon.
It goes without saying this method is dangerous for your lungs as it instantly converts the resin into a fine mist, I ALWAYS wear my respirator doing this. One slip of the hand could also damage your part or body part....but to date I have never had a problem!

Oh man I want this! Looks absolutely superb!
With regards to the casting blocks, this is one of my only gripes with Legends kits-they are always so massive and a pain to remove. I generally use a dremel with a saw blade fitted, but don't like that option because of the risk of sawing off a finger or two. Best to use a fine hand saw and cut as much away as possible then sand the rest.

I use a thin saw on a Dremel, or the steel cutting drum to grind off the blocks. For many of the smaller ones, I use a sprue cutter. Dykes work well for the larger pieces if you're careful. It allgoes very quickly as you can see from the photos.
Ryan's idea for the primer works well, but I only use it for those damned "shave off" rivets. That way I know that the bare resin side goes down. I highly recommend doing this.
Also, I use my wife's granite counter tops to finish off the pieces. I lay coarse or super fine wet/dry sand paper on the granite, and sand the pieces down that way.

Second bag of parts before cleaning. I might have time later to start on them. Being a dad has to come first though.

Remember I said you could have one by Thanksgiving? You've fulfilled that prediction. Congratulations!
As for mine, I might need to slow down - these are supposed to be hard kits. For the flat panels, clip the reinforcement ribs off with a sprue cutter, then simply scribe and snap. Scribing backwards with a no. 11 blade works best for me.
All cleaned up, what's next?

Stephane, you won't be disappointed. Won't be working on mine today - the world's coolest chopper build needs my attention. I will post last night's progress when I get home.

Same turret for sure. When designing it in such a short time frame it was easier to get something "off the shelf"

Also, can you post some pictures of the interior parts when you get a chance please. I have two of these on order and can't wait to get them. What are you thinking for markings for your model? Iraq or Afghanistan? I can't wait for mine to get here, I'm thinking that one will be a my old ride 4-1, and the other a Polish MaxxPro working down in Ghazni, spike it up a little with some NSV's and UKM-2000's instead of M2's and 240's.
