Well troops I took this one outta the stash looking for a nice easy build (especially after the Coyote

)
With only 48 parts not including the road wheels and tracks i figured it would be easy peasy.

Well after a quick look at some references it soon became clear that this little gem is gonna need some extra work. Nothing too difficult, but definitely not a shake and bake kit.
The fenders are the wrong shape.
The turret base under the .50 needs work.
The headlight guards need tweeking.
No growser racks.
Missing weld seams.
Plus the broken and missing items
After removing most casting plugs and about two hours so far on the hull...

Quick question as my memory has failed me once again. Are the growsers slid into the racks horizontally?
cheers

Interesting build Richard

Who is the kit from? I love some of the early Canadian armor, not too many built up on the web. I will be following this build.

Would this help ?

Thanks Frenchy, I got that opened up on another tab LOL
I think I was right in my assessment that they slide in lengthwise.

I look forward to seeing you bring this one together. Any plans for how you are going to finish it?

Other than NATO 3 colour, no plans yet. I will be looking for some period pics online, but so far the majority have been gate guards.

LOL,
Ya it's just etch "sprue" bent into shape. Used some evergreen for filler pieces.

Thanks,
Yes the hull is pretty much a solid piece, just a little hollow spot underneath that gets covered up with a plate.

Nice job Rick! I don't know what it is about the Canadians but I love what you guys do with the vehicles. Thankfully my job has me dealing with some of them first hand so I'm really excited to see how this one turns out

Starting to look good there. Any major casting flaws with the resin? I tried to find one for myself, but don't seem to be readly aviable online. I wonder how hard it would be to scratch on from an old tamiya 113. Can't wait to see the rest built up

Lucky Model sells them. Keep a eye on eBay too as they pop up quite often.
As Rick stated the front fenders are incorrectly shaped and have to be sanded down to the correct angle. The rear engine access hatch should also be totally flush and in the kit it is raised....to correct this it would have to be sanded all the way down and a new hatch scribed.
An M113 kit can be converted....LOTS of work but it can be done....see here.....

The lynx is also approx 250mm narrower than the 113, as well as being shorter in height and length. You could use a 113 as a base but there would be alot of hacking LOL.

Nice job Rick! I recall some issue with my headlight guards. After the fender modification, the kit ones didn't want to fit properly...just as an FYI.
Mine also did not come with the C5 or the mount.

Almost near the end for this little fella
The only hindrance now is stowage, how was the EIS stored on the back deck? Does anybody have pics of these things in operation?

Had to pretty much rebuild the .50 cal mount. It's not 100% correct, but i think it's better than the kit offering.

Rick
Looking good so far. We would try and put most of the kit on the outside strapped to the footmans loops and on the rear tobogan rack. Pers kit was stored inside, around the commander and observer. Pioneer tools and tool kit stored inside of rear door compartment. Of all my time on them, I only have no more than 6 in action photos and we would have camnets all over them , more photos of the rebuilt one that took us a week to restore from monument to runner for a unit parade. I have Lynx Tech manuals and stowage lists, that will dig out for you if you would like.
Did you see the "dog leg" gun mount for the C-5 Gpmg ?

Thanks Anthony,
I found the C-5 mount in the box, but it needs a little work LOL. I have to rebuild the rear antennea mount to the proper diameter, scratch the engine grill fording box thingie, and tailight wiring.
cheers
