A couple of years ago, I saw som pictures of a dio in progress. The dio was about a Tiger that had fallen through the ground and into a ancient hidden egyptian tomb.
I don't remember who made it, but I understood that he was a well known modeller. I think i saw the pic of the dio in progress on track-link or missing lynx website but I haven't found it.

Does anybody know if he ever managed to pull it off? If so, are there any pictures of it?

A TIGER in an Egyptian Tomb? That doesn't seem totally correct geographically!!!
Thought these were only used in Tunesia? Or is this a "What if"situation?

I think it was a tiger... But it was a while ago, so I might be remembering wrong.

It was a german tank that had fallen through the roof.... Thats for sure..

It was indeed Rhodes Williams, and it was a least a couple of years ago, it was posted in the constructive comments forum on ML (hard to forget a scene like that). As far as I know Rhodes never finished the dio but he did have the Tiger in another setting. I'm pretty sure I saw a pic of it in this years Euro Militaire (sp??) The Tiger itself looked fantastic. Though I was skeptical of the historical accuracy, Rhodes said there was some basis in fact for the setting if I remember correctly. If you try the LA-AMPS site there might be some pics of the Tiger there, if I can find a link I will post it later. (I'm at work now and just typing this from memory)

Later,
Mike

As kelley said ... it was definately Rhodes Williams. I have seen this surfacing several times over the last few years ... it was work in progress everytime ... have never heard of it being finished! Didn´t really matter to me if it was historically correct... it was so cool. It was something in the vein that the Germans were looking for lost gold etc, and was built on different levels. The ground level was all ruined coloumns etc. and I think a famo as well. The Tiger had fallen through a weak part into a very deep tomb and the whole suspension took the impact . he used lots of different scale egyptian type souveniers and pinted them up as cut stone. Was an excellent dio and one i wouldnt mind seeing in complete fórm. This guy has built loads of dios ... and some huge dios, with lots and lots of figures! One i remember was almost a full coastal village! Check him out! He is also featured in missing links articles dio section. Last tiger in Pom.... forget the spelling!

Has anyone tried emailing Rhodes to see if he has finished this project? It would certainly make one HELL of a feature story.

Oh sure.... nice stuff, but are the sphinx's in true proportion to the glyphs?

Man - that is SOMETHING impressive... can you imagine how much FUN that guy must be having to work on a neat idea like this!? Awesome!

This is a great project and I do not want to take anything away from Rhodes but I do agree with Phantom_Major on some of the aspects/errors in this diorama. I would certainly expect the tank to have a lot more damage than it has. Based on the way this Tiger fell into the tomb I would think that the laws of physics and gravity would have it go down nose or rear first which means it would have definitely had some serious issues. Water in the tomb, although a nice effect, would also be incorrect. I think this is great project but he (Rhodes) was thinking of entering this into a competition certain things would need to be corrected.

It all has a strong Indiana Jones flavor. I love it. I hope he throws in a LOT of sand to illustrate that the roof caved in.

I agree that the hole the tiger left was too neat and with all that weight crashing on the floor
somestatues would fall over and the tiger would have large parts of rubble all over it but well done at least hes got a great imamination and got the bottle to try something different
I wish I had that skill look forward to seeing it finished though :-)
