Has anyone else noticed and done anything with the following that I found on the track and Dora wheels?

Regarding the wheels, I'll be using Trumpeter track for my Dora to sit on, for a number of reasons but mainly because the cabinet I'm putting the finished model in is too narrow for the kit base sections to fit in. Also the Soar Art track is far too wide for 1/35 scale. To get the wheels to fit the Trumpeter track isn't a major problem, I found by sanding the raised part off the back of each wheel they fit closer together on the axle and are the right distance apart to fit the Trumpeter track. It'll take me a while to sand down the back of all 80 wheels though...

Any thoughts on this. Did get a few minutes to work on things today. Glued together a few things and cleaned up a few more things.

Hello,
the wheels are not in 1/35 scale but in 1/32 - which is the same as "Märklin Spur 1" tracks. You could use these tracks without doing any modification at the Dora - and these tracks are looking great.

Best regards,
Michael

Well it's been a few days since I posted anything. Busy doing a lot of other stuff. One of the things was doing a house call and buying about 125 to 150 models and a lot of books and magazines. Due to a storage unit buy-out this couple had everything under the sun in plastic. From a few finished to partly started to new but in a plastic bag not boxed. To new stuff in bad boxes to a few kits that were like brand new in the wrap. Bought several Tiger books and several of the PzKpfw V Panther volumes. Magazines, I bought a lot of the AFV series and the Military Miniatures series. About 60 to 70 between the two. Some of the kit highlights include a Karl (90% done, nicely) and a nib Tamiya Dragon Wagon and several FAMO's and lots and lots of tanks, etc. Did not buy any of the cars or planes or ships kits, or the sci-fi stuff. Any rate when I first got there they stated that they wanted $5,000 for everything and another $1,000 for the books, then they said for $5,000 they would throw in the books. Well that's when the talking started and finally the buying started. Filled most of the car Friday night and then the wife and I went back on Saturday and we just had room to sit with everything that "WE" bought. Yes, I have a GREAT WIFE... I put about 40 to 50 of the non German kits up for sale at the store. I'm keeping the German stuff and a few of the other started kits (mainly Russian tanks, good for targets for the German Tanks).

DORA.... Well as you folks know the brake work takes forever and I'm still working on the brakes. Noting that there are several extra B-17's, I'm adding them to the top of the C-10 units to help balance them out. I'm putting the B-1 arms on the truck bottoms first then adding the almost finished unit and it seems to work well. I'll try for some photos tomorrow. In reviewing some of the builds seems like a few folks skip the C-6 (spring like part)?

Michael Thank you for the 1/32 info really looks different when you put those tracks next to some of the railroad tracks that some with the Dragon 1/35 kits. I wanted to make a diorama using the Dora (of course) and some of the Dragon track kits and was noticing a big difference between the two. Now thinking about keeping the Dora on the current track and later building a curved track diorama with another track set for the other rolling stock. Using those "Märklin Spur 1" tracks that Michael talked about and might keep the track setups that came with the Dragon rail car stuff.

Other big thing for me was that after a (seems) long wait my 1/72 Dora got here from China. I get to check in the parts tomorrow. Hopefully between clients that is.

Some time want to go over and talk about the GAP between the 5th and 6th wheels in the 1/72 rail cars and the "NO-GAP" between the 1/35 rail cars. I know some are cutting in a 2 to 3 mm gap but the gap in the 1/72 setup looks a lot like a full wheel size. More on this later, please.

Also I'm finishing up with a Dragon MG42 and Lafette build 1/6 scale. Took lots of pics and will post a build on it, that is easy to follow. THROW the *&*%## directions away. They stink.... I'll also show what parts are left over and which parts need to be throw away or made into something else. More on that another day..

Well did some more of the brake parts again today. Keep working on it. Only need to put together 32 pairs of C-23 and C-2, with a C-17 between of course. 1/2 get C22, other half get C21. So far I've only lost 2 of the C17's, airborne someplace. Thank God they sent a few spares.

Tim, ahhh the beginning!!! Kinda reminds you of a Trumpeter kit doesn't it.. build a bunch of brake parts, set the engine down and they are hid from view.. but it gives you a warm feeling knowing that they are there "in detail".

Got some pictures?? We all need pictures, some of us plastic building folks see a thousand words in every picture. Keep up the posts.. Dave

Just noticed you are in Florida. I just got back from a weeks visit with my brother-in-law and his wife. He's in the Melborne ares. It was 80 to 85 and mostly sunny. Damn I could get real used to that! Came home to freezing and more snow.

I'll start reading stuff again on this. Try again on another time. If anyone has some simple way to do let me know please.

****
Tried again. If anyone finds any lost photos they might be mine. LOL. Upload another. Can't find it and keep getting
"""This category does not contain any images."""

Tim, I use photobucket. You can sign up (freebe) download the pictures to a file and copy them as IMG code files to your thread. So far- no problems and I might add I'm not the most technological person. Hope this helps Dave

Well I kind of won a little of the photo problem. Posted on another website and adding a link to it.
This is a special request that I'm adding to my Dora topic as I need help with what type of a tank. My father was a tank driver then moved up to tank commander and then moved up to tank instructor before he transfer to the Army Air corp. Photo was taken 1943-1944 time period, stateside. I'll post another pic with him next to one of the tanks he was attached to. More of the story in the other link message. It's a nice site if you are into German WW2 weapons.

http://mg42.us/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11459

Thanks again for any help.

On the Dora, today like the other days working on the brake parts. My guess is that I'm about 1/2 way there. The clean up of the flash and all of the other junk is whats taking the most time. For parts that will not be seen without a mirror...LOL....

Couldn't see an image on that site. I am thinking from the 'rounded front, It could be an M4 composite hull.

Starting to look some more myself and this looks close. The front drive sprocket is different.

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/180656

This drive sprocket is the type 1A Fancy I believe. The ones that my father was around look like either the Type 1B Fancy Smooth or the type 3 simple plate.

Several differences. Back to the search button work.

This one is closer

Well did a few more of the brake pieces and scaned another photo. This one is of my father in front of one of the tanks, "Eligible". If you can offer any info on the tank that would be great.

Thanks you for that tank info. Got your info on pics and working on it. Thanks again. Reviewed everything and bought a Dragon 6048 to use in a display. Trying to copy the picture and have something to leave the kids about their Grandfather.

Dora
Worked on brake parts again today. Planning to start gluing the A1 and A2 main truck parts tomorrow, I hope.
Still working on it at any rate.

Some info on the 1/72 Hobby Boss kit that I also bought. I bought it off ebay, took a while to get here due to Chinese New Year but got here in great condition due to great packing. Was just reviewing and want to share the price I got it for.
Paid $131.99 for it with $37.50 s&h total of $169.49 for a 1/72 Dora.... Got it from "sell_model".

Ok, 1/35 Dora still working on brake parts and have almost everything together, next need to install on the cars. Put 2 of the cars together, A1 and A2 to try to make things stable for a better work platform to put brake parts on. Thanks Carl for that idea.

Photos I keep taking a lot of them and will try to work out either photo bucket or some web space somewhere.

Finished the gluing of a1/a2. So next is to finish gluing down the brake parts then try to add the wheel sets and the sides a3/a4. Then on to more fun. Kit is at work and I'm at a show tomorrow and home on Sunday. So I'll try to finish up on a 1/6 mg42 with lafette tripod on Sunday, taken lots of pics and will post some of everything later.

Just posted a pic on the mg42 website about a MG08 at the
Armed Forces History Museum
2050 34th Way North
Largo, FL 33771

Check out their website and check it out if in the Largo, Fla area. Great ship model display that I believe was used in Tora Tora.

Well worked on getting a photobucket account and trying to get it to work out. May need fine tuning but here goes.
Photo of my Father next to one of his tanks.

http://s1168.photobucket.com/albums/r488/photo42rocker/

So this is a test and next I'll try to add some Dora pics.

See if this adds an inline photo.

If the tank pics work I'll go open a topic in the tankers area asking for help later.
Hope that you had a great weekend.

Well it's Friday and between my "Father's Tank" project and the clients I have not done very much Dora work. Did get the B1's glued in that I needed to finish. Monday will try to drop in the brake setup and the car sides with the wheels.

Thanks for the pop. Yes, still around just got side tracked by clients and paper work. Have been working on a few things and trying to also learn to air brush. Have done a few small things on the Dora rail cars and thinking about redoing some of the brake stuff that will not be able to be seen.
Still thinking about the cutting of the rail cars and what needs to be done to get some space between them.
Still need to post some more pics.
