Simply stunning work! Can't put my finger on anything "wrong".
I love that leafy groundwork.
Best regards
Jacob

Thanks for that.
I am really pleased about how the ground work turned out. And it was really easy. Next time I make a forrest floor I'll make a SBS on it.
Cheers,
JW

Well as promised I made a little step by step of how I did the forest floor.
First I formed the base. I filled the helmet (yes its an old German helmet) with Styrofoam and plaster of paris so I had a flat surface to work from.
Using Das clay I made the slopes and and forest floor.
Next I made the celu-clay mix. 3 parts celu-clay powder, 1 part powdered crack filler, 1 part water, 1,5 part white glue and paint to get the colour.
This was applied over the Das clay and after the Celu-clay was on I textured it using a sponge.
Next I spread on white glue mixed with water over the celu-clay.
Now I applied the first layer of the forest floor. This is grey and brown woodland scatter.
Next was the first of the herbs, in this case mint but any one will do depending on the colours you want for yours.
Second one
And finishing of with parsley
the last scatter material to go one was birch seeds. To make sure it stayed on I sprayed some photo mounting glue on before hand.
Now I added some twigs and grass tuft to make it a bit more visually interesting.
Lastly I added a few trees to the base. All of them are home made.
It is a easy and fast way and (I think) gives a good result.
I am going to be using this base for a Jagdpanther I am working on.
It still needs a bit of tweeking but I am holding off on that until I am able to place the model on it to blend both into each other
I am planning on another helmet dio for a 88cm Flak.
Hoop it can help someone out.
Cheers,
JW

Wish I had caught this one from the beginning. Great idea on the base! The helmet is very refreshing compared to other ones I have seen! The ground work and kit are very well done. Just the right amount of fading on the jagdpanzer.

Brilliant work, Jan! Could you please tell me what base color (Dunkelgelb) you used for the Jagdpanzer IV? I'm still looking for other options than my own mixes, which seem a little off. Yours, however, looks exactly like the Dunkelgelb I'm looking for.
Thank you and keep the great work coming!
Johannes

Thanks guys,
The base colour I used was simply Tamiya Dark yellow lighted with buff by eye. Sorry to say but no fixed ratio. I usually mix my paints in the airbrush cup.

Glad to hear you found it useful. It is really easy and fast. The helmet forest floor took me less then an hour.
