Thanks... One of my concerns was that there would be too much open space in the woods, but I've decide to fill it with an MG42 pos. and a small inf. team.

to weezul,
i appreciate you letting me have a little fun with this. seriously, though the dio you described should be good. try either the LAH or Hitlerjugend, maybe Panzerlehr. happy building Nick
Yeah, Weezul, thanks. It's a great idea you got in the first place. Always happy to see some 88s in action.

Naturally I'm way late on this one; clearly we're going for an over-the-top dio. Folks have mentioned the 88 getting hit by a battery of 105s, P47s, etc., and the countermeasures to same. Y'all forgot one, certainly a challenge in 1/35: Naval gunfire support. Yeah, let's have the 88 and half a dozen smoking Shermans. The SS crew can be celebrating the fact that they broke up the American advance. But you have to include that forward observer crouching behind the smoldering wreckage of an M4, and include the incoming rounds of 14 inch shells from the USS Nevada offshore. If you have room, by all means build the Nevada herself--she'll only be about twenty feet long. If not, just model a couple of the rounds themselves, and hang them from the ceiling inbound about two tenths of a second from impact. BOOM!

That would be a good idea... Having the torched Sherman and all...
Forget the Nevada.
But I would need someone to help me out with getting the blast impacts on the Sherman right, although it may be a little late in the game for this.

Oh... one other issue.. I built the Sherman with the hatch unbuttoned, so should I use the 'Bailing out' figures from VP while I have a SS Shutze training his MP40 on the soldiers? Or should I just sand the paint down and try to button it up?

I know I'm jumping into this way too late (fun reading though) But a open Sherman with bail out crew would look better. With maybe the first 3 or 4 men of an inf. platoon taking cover just around the corner (the 88 would see them)? From where the Sherman came from.

Well, I'll think about it... It really would make a more interesting dio, but I think I'll probably just end up going with the Sherman about to get the crap blown out of it, for simplicity reasons.
