I bought the Tamiya 88mm Flak36/37 model and have finished the gun and bogies, but am still unclear on the figures... It only offers painting instructions for the Reichswher and the Luftwaffe... My gun belongs to the 12th SS Panzer, so how would I paint a Waffen SS gun crew? Do I just do the standard camo smocks? Or is it something different?

I'm going to use the summer uniforms, because it fits the dio I'm building. I'll have the 88 ambushing a sherman coming up the road.

I feel so sorry for the Sherman builders.... 8 out of the 10 time it shows in a dio, it's at the receiving end of some nasty ambush....so is the T-34......

No offense, Sabot. Please don't hold it against me, and not answer my questions.....

Heheh... I'm going to have it coming around the corner, minding its own business... Not seeing the fearsome 88 sitting behind a heavily camoflauged sandbag emplacement.

Of course, 5 minutes later, the 88 gets hammered by some P-47s or a battery of 105s! LOL!
BTW, how big is this dio going to be? If the range is too close, the AP shell may just go clean through the tank.

I just did a mental calculation, from Weezul's original idea of one 88 and one Sherman, after 2 days of brainstorming by us "Bigger is better, More is better" Armor Modellers, now it officially grown to:

1 knocked out Sherman + 12 following Shermans
one 88
one Flakpanzer
one panther
one "silly P-47" :-)

Weezul, now here is a project I would like to see! :-)

Hey ! You forgot the infantry on that one !
There should be one or two platoons advancing with that sherman, checking houses and street corners.
And don't forget the 4 m12 further behind...

And there's a french site with plenty of photos of an 88mm cannon.

You guys are right, what was I thinking!

There should be a couple FW190 going to lend a hand to the flakpanzer to shoot down the silly P-47 too, right? :-)

Yes, there is always place for Stugs....Okay as the American 105 started to prepare for fire mission, out of the woods comes out 2 Stug IV, and one JagdPanzer IV blasting away and shoot the batteries to pieces.....

Sorry, I already lost count, how many vehicles/planes/men do we have now for this project? :-)

Well, this is supposed to be shortly after D-Day, so so much for Stg44's.
The base I have is about 21" by 16"- big. Its an L-shaped road, which passes over a brook, with a small hill on the inside of L, where the 88 is, covering the road. The sherman is just coming around the corner. The 88 is behind sandbags and is covered in camo netting etc. I started forming the hils using plaster, but I ran out... This could take awhile. The 88 is done, and I just need to finish the Sherman.

And then, we have to have a platoon of the 101st burst out of the woods and charge the gun, before getting mauled by the armor.

Hi Weezul, you sure 16 x 21 will be enough for all the things we had talked about? :-)
