Hi there! I have some problems with painting P42 marine's camo. Can you honestly tell me how does this look like? Let's say that the first guy's uniform is almost finish. I have paited it with acrylics, and filtered it with oils. I only need to add some lights and shadows. Second one is painted only with acrylics.

fairly better the first.
but yet seems.... incomplete.
maybe working with lights and shadows with the base colour before add the camo may help...
also, I would consider to use the jacket camo and the trousers green, to break the colour's uniformity.
OR, maybe, paint the low part of the dressing strongly darker, as it would appear after the running in the water...

Paolo, of course it is incomplete! I'm still working on it. I was just wondering which way should I choose. Now I am working on shadow and light. It is still possible, I must say. I was scared if I paint shadow and light first and then add some camo dots I will loose the effect. So I am painting it now. I have never painted a uniform with camo so I am looking for the best solution.
Wayne, thanks for the website.

Very good sensitivity to the overall balance of men in action and their focus. Wonderful approach to the atoll terrain...squirming with life, and detailed crannies. This promises to be an evocative and absorbing composition as the marines give all to walk the razor's edge between life and death...just be sure to sacrifice expediency and out-do yourself with the painting.

Hey Pawel, This is fantastic. It is coming together very well. The ocean is real nice and the bottom changing from rough to sand is the best I've seen yet. I do hope you are going to add the rest of J company, it will add to the concentration of troops landing giving it that crowded look. Just fantastic the way it is turning out. Can't wait to see more of it.

Wow!! Very impressive! The water looks very realistic. The bullet splash is a nice touch. Why did you leave the soles of some of the boots brown? I have searched through numerous photos and see only black soled boots. This is for the Marines and US Army. Paratroopers wore boots with brown soles, but only paratroopers.

Very very impressive work. I love the views of the front firing line and the interaction between all of the figures. The water is impressive in it's overall look and in its' details.
This is top quality work. If you want some suggestions for improvment I would say there is a little too much shineyness on some of the uniforms and equipment. Cloth gets darker and more matte in color when wet and is hard to replicate with paint but I like the guy with the sand stuck to his pants and boots because of them being wet.
Small points on a really well done dio. As I said earlier in the thread, brilliant groundwork and foliage too! There is a lot to like here and to learn from as well.
Can't wait to see what you do next!

Hey Pawel, Out freaking standing. Excellent job on everything. Am glad I got to view this from the beginning to end. Just hope my four vign's turn out 1/2 as good. Will keep this one tucked away for those winter projects I planed on doing in the S.P. A real pleasure to see this come together. bob d.
