It's kinda cool watching the site grow... and keep on growing.
In almost two years on-line, we're still growing at a rate of about 4.7 members per day! (don't ask about the ".7"!)

I remember when it was Jim, Gunnie, Ken and myself. Maybe another user or two.
The site was empty and we were all just chatting about what features the site needed. I added some reviews and a modeler's tool box article just so we'd have some content.

It is hard to believe it's going to be 2 years in about a month or so. In some ways that seems fast and in others it seems the site has been around a lot longer. Funny that is.

No. 134 checking in here.
I've noticed that some of the early members have disappeared. Yodaman and AndersHeinz come to mind, but I'm sure there are others. Hope they find their way back here someday.
Way to go, Jim.

Some time next year, half this site will be generals !
Who the hell is General Failure, and why was he reading my hard disk ?
Where's my funky Iraqi general rank that was here on my profile a few years ago? Did they strip my rank, after all I've done for this forum ? Robbery!!

Well if everyone is concerned about being to rank-top-heavy I could just change all the settings and give us demotions? hehe

And to think all those posts are still here.
I just went back to see when my first post was:
Suggestions to This Site. The post was dated 16 December 2001, but showed that I joined 18 December 2001. I guess we could post before we officially joined? I also looked up the very first post (Jim's) and it was 13 December 2001. What you got planned for the 2nd anniversary?

Ah...but I remember. All users that signed up in December and early January did not get the date saved correcty. So I had to go back and guesstimate as to when some users joined up. You obviously joined on the day the site first went live (as in made public).
Not sure about the 2nd anniversary gala. Black tie?

I remember. I hopped in here about a year after most of you guys and immediately knew this was the place to stay. Prior to finding this site I posted my questions in RMS and got flamed, one way or the other. As I have said in the past, I was welcomed here like a friend the members hadn't met yet. And, I have made an effort to keep that spirit alive, welcoming new modelers to the site and helping out where I can.
I really, honestly, think this site is almost unique on the Internet. I read (lurk) forums on other sites on a regular basis and I have been doing this web thing for a long time. The fact that Jim has only had to ban 2 people, IIRC, says an awful lot about keeping the focus on modeling.
I realize that I have said most of this numerous times but I number you folks among my friends. For some of us, like me, who work 6 days a week and the nearest IPMS chapter is better than a hour away, you are our modeling club. This site fosters young modelers, encourages older modelers (me) and reminded me that this is a hobby and is supposed to be fun.
Sorry about the rant, but, man, like George S Patton said, "God help me, I do love it so."
Thanks for 13 months of advice and motivation.
Shaun
