Scott,
Just as in the real world there is a seperate progression for Non-coms vs. Commissioned Officers. Noboty really thought you got up to Master Sergeant and then were promoted to 2nd Lt?
Eventually I will have the Naval CO ranks as well. Someday you can be an Admiral.
Cheers,
Jim

I'd sure like to have my (permanent) SSG stripes back... they were there earlier today... I have no desire whatsoever to be an LTC.... too much brass for this old grunt.
Kevin,
If you had a "special" rank and used the new rank selector function then of course that rank "placeholder" was lost by the system. Eventually I may be able to allow anyone to select a rank level they have reach and keep it as their permenant rank.
If you want your old rank back I suggest sending me an email via the link below to remind me. It's not a simple admin thing to restore it. (a warning to anyone else who has a special rank and decides to experiment).
Cheers,
Jim

Well... I guess that's my punishment for poking where I shouldn't be poking....
Thanks Jim... if it's a bother, then don't.

Thanks for pointing that out. All fixed.
And for the Canadian/Australian/UK ranks for WWII perhaps they should all go under one selection and then your country selection will put in the right CANADA - AUSTRALIA - NEW ZELAND - etc. patch above your rank? That would be cool

How do you turn OFF this ranking thing? I don't like the militaristic aspect of it. I suppose some people get a kick out of it but I find it a little childish.

I just want to a non-military ranking, or none at all. Can't Jim make a set of blank GIFs and create a "no rank" option or something? Or have a ranking system based on modelling? Like "Beginner", "Super Detailer", "Advanced", "Master", etc....? I just don't like the military part of it.

Hey!
I think I might have read somewhere that the American Apache tribe braves could possibly have had an informal rank system.
If so, could we fit this into the program?

That's a good idea. I agree not everyone likes military ranks. ( Damn pacifists! )
Thanks for the feedback Paul.

You can now select "no rank" as an option and it will display nothing. I will have to work up something more for a modeling rank system but will do that as well.
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks, now I am rankless. It is not that I am a pacifist, I like ice hockey afterall, it is just that I have a big problem with authority, rank structures, etc.

That sounds cool to me, but let's choose names that are not the same as on other sites.... let's keep our own identity.

Hey Jim, how about Polish ranks? If I present you with appropriate graphics and Polish-to-English translation, would you be able to incorporate them into the new ranking system?

Oh goody! I'm now rankless too! :-) And remember, "rank" is a foul-smelling odor coming out from one's armpits! #:-)
But seriously, I'm not a pacifist either (FAR FROM IT! MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! but I ain't any war freak meself!) but rather find it, uh, "uneasy" to carry a rank considering that I was never in the military - especially here where there are many members who have served or currently serving in the military.
Again, thanks Staff_Jim! :-)

The military rank idea was great one..however, having too many types can of very messy. i just feel it that way. have you all ever consider, modellers who focus on warship/diorams on war ship shall be listed under Navy ranks. Modellers who focus on armor/army figure will be listed under the Army ranks etc.
We can further give various users level of skill in modelling base on the number of campaign they participated and completed. Eg, completed 10 campaign and above considered Intermediated. so we can have someone under a Seaman rank, completed 6 campaign with a skill rated Intermediated.
The above is just a suggestion. Though the current ranks available brighten up and decorated the forum.

Jim, I'm willing to work on the current Candian ranks for you. I have the images already, and an equivalents chart, so it shouldn't take me too much work. Please let me know.
