Okay...well I was hoping to just let someone "discover" this new feature. But as their seem to be some "coding" side-effects (as in the negative kind) I better explain what is going on.
I have finally managed to build (well almost) the rank progression feature where you will be able to select which branch, country, etc. you will see for your ranks. So far I have only added US Air Force NCO as an alternative rank selection but we will be able to add as many as are wanted/needed.
The bad news is that some of you are currently "rankless". This is a temporary side effect. The info your ranks are based on are 2 things. Number of posts and your rank level ID. Apparently the rank level ID is not getting set correctly and the system is not able to determine your correct rank. But rest assured your rank post total is still being saved. In fact ANY of you that are missing ranks right now can correct this by going to your my account area, selecting the USAF NCO rank at the bottom and saving your profile. You can then do it again selecting the default rank to restore your original rank. However this would only be a temporary fix as whatever bug is causing this will likely happen again at some point.
I will look at this today and see if I can track it down.
Thanks,
Jim

New Ranks (and read if your rank is missing)

Okay that was pretty easy. I missed a function in the forum that checks your rank and updates it according to number of posts. Now that we have more than 1 progression of ranks it wasn't checking for a specific group so I corrected that.
For those missing ranks either keep posting (it will sort itself out again at some point) OR use the method I mentioned above and this time it should not go bad.
Or you can join the USAF for a while.

Any chance of getting some Brit/Canadian ranks Jim?
Posted: Saturday, November 08, 2003 - 08:25 AM UTC
Grant,
Absolutely no chance. Only US ranks allowed. :-)
Just kidding. OF COURSE!
I was just about to go looking for some British Army ranks actually. Is the rank structure for Canada much different? Or the rank images? If so we can certainly add that series as well.
If anyone wants to get aggressive with this idea. Just send me a list of 12 (preferably) rank levels and either the images for them or a location where the images can be had. For the graphically inclined if you can make rank images in similar size (width) to the ones we have AND give them transparent backgrounds, that would speed up the process immensely.
Cheers,
Jim

Jim,
I'm sure this new feature will bring some extra flavor to the site !
If we all do a small effort to supply you with ranks of certain countries, this thing will ROCK !
Great show !

WooHoo, Now Jim and I are both CSM's Although, you would likely want to change yours to CSM of Armorama (As the Army has a corresponding rank of CSM of the Army) with corresponding insignia. Is there any change to No. of post needed for progression?
