Ok, another update.
Gun is finished, still fresh some filler needed on some seams, but no major problems yet.

Dry fit on the hull.

Next I'll work on the interior, hatches and side armour.

Worked on the rear, exhausts, some interior detail and side plates.

Still don't know if I should start painting the interior before glueing the side & rear armour plates.
Wheels will be on the bench soon.

I need to fix one of the boxes, the Mp40 support prevents to box to sit tight.

Here's the dry fitted gun

Hi John ...Very nice work on your Hummel so far ...I just noticed something and it is in no way your fault ..It's Dragons instructions that have it wrong.. On both sides of the lower part of the fighting compartment they give two pieces which are supposed to be templates for placing the lift hooks in the right places but were not supposed to stay there ... If you look at the Dragon instructions they screwed up and left them there .. I guess I'm too late to help you but, if I can help someone else before they start their kit ..You have been warned..

No problem Rick, thanks anyway !! These instructions are even worse .. I'll try to take them off.

Last details on the hull & interior

Also painted the wheels with Vallejo New Rubber and Tamyia Rubber ( you can clearly see the different colour )

Will try to finish those wheels and start to get a base coat of Dark Yellow on the big Hummel soon !!

Am still following closely John. Don't forget that every one of these AFVs would be different in its interior layout once crews settled into their vehicles and arranged things the way they wanted.. well until an Allied shell blew the crap out of them anyway..

Cheers mate

Ooo! An update!!

You are right about the tracks, although they take less time than some others I can name. Did you leave the sprockets etc loose so you can remove the tracks for painting easily?

Cheers mate and keep up the great work

Looks good John. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the 'new' rubber but we'll see once it's weathered.

I'm not happy with that result either, looks too light, anyway some more work on those tracks:

Hummel's work:

Finished the steel coat on the tracks and also gave a AK Track Wash coat.

Started rusting some parts,

Dirt filter on the other side too

Some more dirt, some base coat paint started to come out, will fix that later on.

Also MIG filter on the inside
