Hi guys,

I've been planning this one for some time, the S.P.A.M Build Log, Self-Propelled Artillery Mayhem ...

After doing a Tamyia Brummbär and 2 SturmTigers I started getting some more kits.

I will post the sprue shots, progress photos, questions, problems and comments too will be posted here.
It's going to take some time to finish them, no problem.
Here are the subjects:

Stay tuned !!

John, why the Dicker Max (which was a bunker-buster) and the Grasshopper? They're not NLOS-type artillery like all the others? Either way looking forward to seeing 'spam' for once. (Didn't know there was an leFH 18, now there's ANOTHER kit I want....)

Christopher, the Heuschrecke was a Self-propelled light field howitzer, I figured it fits the BuildLog spirit.
The Dicker Max, I was meant to be a bunker-buster, I agree, well being such a large caliber it could also destroy some armour.
But it could also cause a mayhem firing upon some mortar squads and supporting a panzergrenadier attack.. I don't know, I might leave it out.. will see.

Anyway sorry to add anotherone to your wishlist
( Got that last one from Spruebrothers with a huge discount here )

Ok, I decided to get the first one on the bench,

The instruction sheet isn't that bad, info, colours good decals,
the sprues:

Tracks

and decals

First steps

The plastic is good, nothing like SKIF or Eastern Express.
Decal sheet looks nice, several options for the markings too.
Let's see how the suspension turns out.

Stay tuned !!

Good choice as first vehicle and a good start.

I am working on and of on the Marder I on Lorraine chassis. Which is a combination of the RPM marder, the Ironside Lorraine 37L, Aber PE, Tamiya PAK40, RB barrel and ammo. And a load of scratch. It is nearly finished but with each suspension part counting a total of 24 parts you quickly loose your sanity.

Looking forward to your work.

Ola John

I have a link to the original thread. I am quite further sadly I have no pictures of that. The suspension of one side is finished. I still need to do the 72 parts of the other side and figure out a way how to mount the Friul sprockets.

Oh DO have fun with the leFH18/40/2 (sf) auf G.W. Pz.Kpfw.III/IV build! I started that back in the TD/SP Campaign and it's still on the bench!

I've had it so long that Dragon USA On-Line has it reduced to just 45 bucks! A far cry for the almost 70 bucks I paid for it so you can bet it'll get built... soon!

Anyway, I'll keep a close watch on this just to see you make it through John.

Thanks for the compliments. It is coming along and yeah that gun is something I'm pretty pleased with as well. Will look very good once I start flinging paint at it.

@Jeff

Hi Jeff !! Happy to see you here, as you can see this Build Log will keep me busy for sometime..
I found that kit real cheap, along with shipping it to Europe, it was half the price I had in my usual stores..
I saw it first in your build for that Campaign, I'm looking forward to start it too.. but I need to finish some more Campaigns..

@Robert Worth
Thanks Robert ! Feel free to leave your comments following the builds !

@Robert Blokker
Yes, it's a great build you have there, I'll be waiting to see it painted. I'm sure it will look great , any paint scheme in particular ?

Here's the update, the suspension details:

Small parts

And the available markings

Thanks for the hard time And I will need patience ( a 747 cargo full .. ) , this will be a loooong Build Log for sure !

Today's update, hull & suspension details.

I still have do make 4 of these before getting the wheels and fixing it to the lower hull...
( it's very easy to get those small parts flying away from the tweezers ...)

Thanks for the 'look inside' of the 15 cm sFH (Sf) auf GW Lr.S. - Sd.Kfz. 135/1 John. I did not know it had a ground brace/spade in the back of this vehicle.

Does it function or it can only be displayed in one position?

After looking at the instruction sheet, it can be built either in a firing position w/ gun up & ground brace/spade down or in a travelling mode.

Would be pretty interesting to watch if fire if it didn't have the spade, Jeff. The gun is mounted so far back....

It's one of those things where you don't know if it's an assault gun or field artillery.

But now that I know it has that feature, it is indeed artillery. And I gotta get one now.

I get what your saying Jeff. All the 35 and 38 based vehicles are a bit weird and I'm certainly not an expert on them.

John, I just noticed in your spure shots it doesn't have pre-cut indy-links!? Are you going aftermarket for the tracks or are you going to spend the hours needed to carefully cut and clean up each link? You could probably build a whole other kit in that time!
