thanks Jeff... it is a very interesting canvas... next up will be hairspray & grey... not sure if i will go whitewash too.. may try shading the grey, if it looks good then stick with that, otherwise whitewash ;-)

grey on - Vallejo "German Grey" going to do a little scuffing on this (did HS the primer) but not too much, also going to do some fading with TE filters via AB - if i dont like it I can always go the white wash route, if I do I can leave it "boring grey"....

some fading done using True Earth filters.. then tried to remove some areas via HS method... first thing - TE filters dont like the water when you do HS... so know now do TE after HS technique (and yes Velljo really doesnt like to come off... )

still not sure if I will do white - i think so as I like the look, but would need a good period of bench time to do HS and white and start weathering close together....

piccies

NOTE - rusting is Humbrol iron oxide pigment... need to tone it down a little, some darker browns I think, but it is a start....

QQ - decals, should i gloss, decal, matt then HS or do the HS and white then gloss the decal areas (they are left grey so I dont need the white on first)

and now with bad whitewash... gone for the more "towards the end of the winter when the white wash was rubbing off" look - more by accident than design.....

decided tools, spare wheels etc would;ve been on when the white was applied... 1 spare wheel (the vertical front one) will have been used to replace the one damaged on the RHS in the same incident that resulted in the fender damage - this will then give me 1 white wheel "for interest"...

not usre if i am going about this in the right way, thought I would get some "mud" pigment on the lower half then get the wheels & tracks on (just placed for now as i need to rub the contact points of the wheels/tracks to remove the brown colour... graphite?)

but slowly it gets some weather....

Rob - you're well past the stage now so this is a moot point, but how long was it between the time you applied the HS and the time you tried to remove it? The longer it stays on, the harder it is to get action out of it.

Also, in your notes you mentioned "not to much" when talking of applying the HS. Was that in reference to the amount used? If so, that may have been part of the removal problem, too.

Primer to grey was a while, 24 hours I would think. Grey to white I think was all quite quick... reading tankart it is apparently to do with the makeup of vallejo paint. Its just too damn sticky.... apparently tamiya white is better.

The "not a lot" was in relation to the amount of chipping on the grey to show primer.

Think for basic chipping I will go back to "post processing" and leave HS for any other white overall....

Decals on, need to weather them in a touch and then paint the stowage and "perhaps" look at the figures. As it is an early spring type finish I think 2 of the provided kit figures should suffice

tracks on (just - some areas that are better not looked at too closely)... need to finish off the hatches, binoculars and stowage and touch up some of the weathering I think.....
