Hi Romain,
The plastic tree has already been consigned to the bin. I couldn't live with the foam things. Mother nature has a possible alternative I'm looking at now.
I still think some height on that side would be good. The flower pots may solve the problem when they arrive.
Thanks for the comments and advice.
Cheers
Al
You are absolutely right..some height would be VERY good!!
You'll find the right solution surely!!

Hi Romain,
Thanks for you advice. This structure should be more appropriate. I would have to get some leaves to attach to the branches in some way.
Cheers

Better, much better!!
Good basis! If I may suggest....glue little pieces of steel wool to the twigs...and then cover them with foliage scatter. Hope you know what I mean, if not you can see my threads in Armorama.
It should be a "jungle", remember..!
so a little more green cannot do any harm! Ferns, ivy, big leaves plants, well, typical "jungle mix" as sold.
Oh yes, do something about the strong colour differences in the wall. Building materials over there are similar, if you see what I mean. Not that there are no subtle differences, but subtle is the key! Nothing a good wash (filter) can't cure!
Cheers

Hi Romain,
I'll check out the steel wool possibility. I need to acquire some leaves lol.
The stone will be getting a couple of grey washes to blend things in a bit more.
Again thanks for the input, appreciated.
Hi Dave,
Many thanks for looking in and the comments, its progressing along.
Still awaiting the arrival of some supplies for the vines/ferns etc.
Cheers guys.

Hi folks,
Having added some more alternative colours to the stone brought the built to here:
As Romain rightly pointed out the stone would be similar and to achieve this I gave the walls a grey wash. They I went back to the policy of less is more and once the wash had dried used some thinner and a cotton bud to remove the excess leaving just the hint of alternative colours. I think this makes the stone more interesting and fairly realistic. It means working on each block but the effect is worth it I think.
There is a slight run of plaster on the top stone I just noticed so I'll carve that off and chip the block a bit.
The flowers and pots arrived this morning, as did some other foliage materials. My plan to raise the height but not obstruct the view was to add a couple of urns and this is what they might look like, although I would need to alter the bases a little to fit the structure.
The set also has some nice small bushes and one of these may make it's way into the inside of the structure.
Still a lot of work to do yet.
Cheers

These are some of the supplies that arrived this morning.
Reality in Scale flower pots. Some nice little bush type things, some small flowers, I like the pink ones and a variety of pots to put them in plus a water fountain.
The remainder of the stuff was from Greenline; some natural trees, and ferns and ivy that are a paper product. I'll see how these work out as I don't use that much flora and fauna as a rule so something new to work with.
Cheers

Hi Roman,
Back to work tomorrow, so things will slow a bit. Looking at the ivy what is really needed is some peel off and stick stuff lol.
I'll need to trim the bottom on the urns to fit the wall, then I'll have a look at how they fir the scene.
Cheers

Hi folks,
These are the urns I plan to use to add a little height to the rear of the building.

Looking at the distance right and left of the Buddha this might be a better position for the 2nd urn?

for the symmetry (balance) this may be true, but....
And where is the "JUNGLE"????
I know many places here in Vienna where the plants have grown thicker that that!! And we are not Burma!!
Come on m8! Make an effort!!

Hi Roman,
Plants are pending. I've been in South East Asia, the Pacific and the jungle of South America, There is primary jungle and secondary jungle. Secondary jungle is where people tend to settle, as it's not so thick and dense and easier to clear and build in.
This is not the lost temple
there's a worn track way though it meaning people pass this way, perhaps even scratch farm nearby. Despite occupation people lived and farmed in many areas so not everything is totally overgrown. I build at my own pace and when time allows and I'll get to adding some more foliage.
I haven't done anything since the vines arrived, I do have to earn a living too and this is one of several project on the go at the moment.
Patience grass hopper, patience
Thanks for dropping in again.
Cheers

Hi folks,
I got some Green Line products to add some foliage to the scene and thought I'd attempt some jungle vines. I have to admit foliage, trees and plants are not really my scene but if you don't try you don't learn.
For the vines I used some roots acquired from the good wife and wrapped the ivy around them. The leaves a very green and will need toned down a a bit and coloured accordingly but I'm not totally displeased with the result so far. Lots of individual leaves to add yet along with more vine, ferns and grasses. I also got some of their Bamboo but I have no idea how that might turn out

Hi Jerry,
Thanks, I've added a few more plants, and ferns. The ferns will need colour and I've added leaves/flowers to the tree. I wanted a sort or ornamental type tree so I'll paint the leaves and flowers when they have set. I'll also run the vine across the floor towards the outer wall and then add plant debris etc.
If the bamboo works out OK them this will give it more height at the back, but that's for later.
Cheers

Hi Alan,
much better indeed!
Just one thing: look at the different greens (static grass and ferns).
IMHO they are too "far apart". so grab your airbrush and tone the ferns down a bit. The odd light green (and even brown) spot will make the thing look more realistic!!
Now you add the figures...and then show us the completed beauty!!??!!!
Cheers

The leaves a very green and will need toned down a a bit and coloured accordingly but I'm not totally displeased with the result so far As well as toning down the leaves, I'll green up the grass a bit. Long way to go yet.

Just on the Australian Anklets, they were a wool, button up item. If you go to the link below I have several images of the original anklets and Battle Dress of the period. I also have the original jungle uniform somewhere that I will have to take photos of one day.

Lovely vignette, Al!
I have a real soft spot for jungle scenes, will be following this one :-)
I don't know where you find the time to make all these exceptional dioramas and vignettes, I'm impressed :-)

Hi Sven,
Many thanks. First time working with paper plants and shrubbery of any depth. Hopeful all will blend in when I get finished.
I always wanted to do a jungle scene, the forgotten war, so when I saw the base I though why not give it a go.
Cheers
