Also, what are you planning for you commo?
I have a variety of Aber/RB/etc antennas and mounts. 1.4 and 2.0 meter along with a "command" (star?) antenna. I haven't totally figured where they'll go other than the range finder has two and each MAUS turret will have one.
Any ideas about placement?
Mike
In no way am I an expert with antenna/ radio stuff, but aren't those antennas you mentioned kind of small? I mean, given
a) the importance of such a beast with - probably - strategic purpose (making it a high value target)
b) the range of the main armament
I would expect radio equipment that allows to communicate with:
- higher echelons (up to army level?)
- the front line troops calling in long range artillery strikes
- the protection force around the Ratte (think "carrier group")
- airforce.
I believe this would result in something like a little antenna (factor in redundencies, this thing is ging to be hit hard...). Apart from the central antennas, I could also picture individual antennas for the rear turrets to interact directly with the protection force.
As to placement, that's a tough one. The rear is out of the question because of the helipad. This pretty much leaves only the turret top/rear or the rear of the turret platform. If it's on the hull, the antennas would have to be on a flexible mount so they don't get damaged by the rotating main guns... In the the end, turret top/ rear probably is the most "natural" spot.
Just my 2 cents
