I'm jumping over to the Great War campaign now, to try my hand at the infamous Emhar 1/35 Mk.IV tank kit, before it fades into history with the coming of two newer kits for this subject.

Here I come, still poking along...
Since my can of Olive Drab was feeling light, I sprayed a light coat of Desert Mustard first over the brown primer, then while still wet, another light coat of the OD. Here's how that turned out...

Then, to indicate that there were once seats mounted in this bus body, I masked rusty unpainted rectangles on the floor, also indicating that I'd lost my mind.

I intend the bus body to be roughed up, so after masking the green parts, I sprayed a heavy dose of hairspray, let that dry overnight, then Testor's gloss red. Unfortunately, gloss being finicky and the can nearly empty, it spit and struggled and covered terribly, so there it sits until I buy another can of red.

Thanks for the campaign and the ribbon. Its great to see the stuff that gets built here.

I enjoy these style campaigns. I build what-if subjects and if I build multiple ones during a campaign I might as well include them.

Hopefully there'll be a next installment.

The front and rear blades function and the boom can be unpinned and folded back into the travel position. Also though hard to see, the winch mechanism has been accruized as compared to the Italeri offering





The design engineering for this model was as much fun as the actual construction.

Definately a "What IF" machine to fit this campaign. It certainly reminds me of a cross between an M32 and an M88!

As to this vehicle having never existed, I figure if someone named Koenig could conceive of this machine in 2002 then some design engineer named Koenig probably sketched this out on a bar napkin back in 1941 as well!

Built a few years back so not up as a current entry but I wanted to share the model on this thread none-the-less. This offering has been thrown out of one regional competition for "never having existed" but it has also won several second place trophies at local competitions and it took a silver metal at the AMPS national in Auburn so I am willing to stand on those credits.


Above is my initial plan sketch for the model. A combination of Italeri's Jagdpanther and Bergepanther kits with a scratch built A frame boom.

Oh...or maybe a signal corps vehicle to document battles for the newsreels. Can you imagine WW1 or WW2 being covered with 24 hr news networks?

I like odd stuff so I might build some of this myself. I'd probably use a Chaffee or Sherman for the VIP luxury box vehicle though. Now I just need to source some 1940s era film cameras. Does anyone make a 1/35 cigarette girl?

As of this morning, the primer is cured and no longer tacky, so I'll start masking and continue painting tonight-- after the trick or treaters!

I'll concede that I need another week too. All the masking and painting I have in mind can't be done in just 2 days. More pics soon.
