WOW,Had no idea it came with slat.Nice work. What does "scalpel/file method of thinning"mean?
Really hope your not snacking on JIMBOS during the build.
Tom

Hey Tom,

The JIMBOS is my secret weapon for a glossy coat and bright shiney eyes .....

As to the thinning, basically its scraping carefully with a scalpel and filing a little when the gaps are large enough.

I'll be honest, it's tedious, mind numbing and a little stressful as you have to be careful not to apply too much pressure and break bits. I've sliced off a few of the thin vertical support rods and broken a few bits here and there. Nothing that couldn't be fixed fortunately.

I think it's worth it as it's almost doubled the air gap between the slats, still overscale but it will have to do until an easier alternative becomes available.

Attached a pic of the difference although the "how to" is a little hard to explain ....

I can just imagine, but it does look a lot better! Nice job but you'd need the patience of Job

Well I'm calling the build/paint part of this finished.

There's still some detailing to be done and the final weathering but the guts of it is done. I've spent more hours on this (30ish already) than almost anything else I've built for a long long time but I think it's worth it, even if the slats are still overscale after about 8hrs of hand thinning ....

cheers
Brent

This is going to be a masterpiece Brent.
Are these figures from the patrol set like Neil used?

Hey Tom, they're a mix.

The track commander is a seated guy from the crew set. His right arm is from the crew set standing gunner.

The loader is from the patrol set. His arms are from Bandai tank crew.

One standing trooper is stock from the patrol set.

The second standing guy is the gunner from the crew set. His right arm holding the Saw is from the patrol set and his left is his own arm but with an inverted Bandai hand supporting the mag.

cheers

Hi Brent,

good to see more great work from you!! I've been a big fan from the beginning as you know...and this collection of vehicles fits nicely into the line!!

Thanks Romain and Roy ..... I'm really enjoying this current modern trip. I've learnt a heck of a lot so far and there's more to come I suspect!! As well as Brits I'm about to embark on a Gasoline 1/48th M1A2 and a section of HMMwVs

Finished a test fig in MTP. I'm going to have both troopers in the back in MTP and the two turret crew in DDPM. Added NVG helmet straps and clips and I should really have replaced the comms mic but ran out of mojo .....

OK Brent,

Your making me sick at how well this is going .
Are you using a brush for the camo on the figures?
I tried a toothpick on mine and found it was still coming out too large. It's been awhile I've followed a build this long, but like a good book your hard to put down .

Can't say enough Brent.
I wish I could paint figures that well in 1/35 let alone 1/48.Just amazing work.
What's next?Maybe the Merlin?Long build,but very nice kit.

Thanks Tom

The next actual project is my 1/48th Gasoline Abrams - https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/218179&page=1

I'd love to do a chopper, probably a Chinook or Apache although my brother wants me to do an Osprey for his speacial forces troops.

As for the British,I've got the Jackal and Coyote to finish next, just painting though, nothing too fancy as they're not mine .... we have brought two more Warriors though lol

cheers

Brent, excellent series.
With interest I expect continuation of your work.
I looked at your models and too I decided to try to assemble similar cars...
