The new Airfix releases aren't bad kits at all and popular with wargamers at least.

This is my Jackal build wip, I've got a 6x6 Coyote and Landrover to do also.

All OOB gaming commission builds so nothing particularly ground breaking to see, although I'll probably add some minor improvements, at the very least those moulded on spiderman stowage nets must go!!!!

Cheers
Brent

A nice neat build Brent. Don't forget the new Warrior too for the collection. Unfortunately Airfix have not added to the range in their 2014 announcements today.....pity.

Thnx Sean, yeah I saw the Airfix release list today too. And I was hoping for a Challenger .... that would've rocked a few people!

Brent

ps got a Warrior already on the way. Another OOB though so no PE slat upgrade.

Nice start Brent,
Keep in mind if your going to add the crew they're hard to work into it when fully built.A big mistake by Airfix considering the vehicles were already out and the crew was a later release, then they tell you not to fully assemble any for the crew to fit .
They are nice kits.If you like them and want to spend some time,I reccomend the Merlin chopper.Even at 1/48 it's a large model.I've been waiting for Lucky or Hobby Easy to carry the set of 2 atv's including crew.

Thanks Brent,
The gunner is the hardest to fit because of the way his legs are split. He won't fit through the turret opening.I had to cut them and reposition.
Santa must be on Armorama.Elm City Hobby, here on the east coast has the quads in stock.

Build prgress on the Snatch Land Rover.

A very nice little kit which would be a good base for extra detailing if so inclined ....

The 6x6 Coyote build. No major issues, pretty much identical to the Jackal but with a longer rear tray. Pretty impressive looking vehicle though ....

Once again nice work Brent.
I think you've done a superb job on the camo.I used a toothpick to do mine and I could never get the nice strokes you've done.
Will be looking forward to your progress.

Progress on many fronts ........

The Coyote build is in the painting stages and I've started assembling the new Airfix Warrior. Great kit so far with plenty of scope of detailing. Mines going to have crew in the turret and rear door closed so I've left the interior as supplied with the kit.

Brent

Amd the Warrior ....

All looking great Brent.
Looking forward to your progress.
I didn't realize the warrior had an interior, may be another dip in the wallet.
Waiting for the quads to come in at Elmcity Hobbies.May consider them and the warrior for a dio.

Thanks Tom,

The interior's pretty basic but there's plenty of refs around (a really good walkaround at Prime Portal) and it's big enough to superdetail if anyone wanted to.

I'm gonna get another and paint it green and may leave all the hatches open, maybe and throw some detail at it, drivers compartment, engine, turret etc etc

Getting there, almost ready for paint.

Most of the PE is on, apart from the parts where I need to paint first (the light grill covers etc) and some stuff thats likely to get damaged during handling like the ECM and Nav aerials.

Hi Brent,

Taking the risk that the whole world starts laughing for weeks, I would like to ask you the reason for the hole in the left central chair?
Does the protection for the crew goes that far that some sort of an internal toilet has been provided?

Thanks for answering,

P.

Thats a nice collection coming on. I finished the Jackal a while back and thought it was a great kit - just wish a 1:35th plastic was available. The Warrior looks especially good, might have to pick that one up myself.

It's a good little kit Phil, well big for me, as I mostly work in 20mm.

Got the basic pin washes completed today (old school oils) so I can go ahead and fit the slats now.

That's looking great, as is your full collection. I presume you'll add the quads and a LR WMIK too?

Hi Sean, you'll probably laugh but the plan is a little bigger than that lol

Apart from the Warrior the other vehicles are for a customer. For our own wargaming this year we're planning to assemble an infantry FS group with 2 Wimmicks and a Snatch, a patrol group of 2 Jackals and a Coyote, an amoured section of three Warriors and probably a helo, I'd like a Chinook but a Lynx is mor practical.

Of course at this scale it doesn't all get used together, the teams see action in different skirmish scenarios. And yeah definately some quads for the infantry foot sections also.

cheers
Brent

Slats going on ...... made one for the rear door to see what it looks like. Perfect for dios or a display model but i'd take me a week to make them all so this will have to live with the scalpel/file method of thinning.
