Hi folks,
Not much done this last week or more, but time to think about some of the troops that I'd like to add to the dio. In the Somme part 1 I used a number of the Bronco Bofors gun crew converted into WW1 soldiers and for the medics for this one I'll use some more.
I've already made some BEF medics from the set:
I'll used the same basic bodies but this time build them as WW1 soldiers and I might do a few more seated troops from the set too plus one or two for the howitzer crew
The other set I'll use are the MiniAat German Artillery crew
Hopefully between the two sets I'll get a selection of troops to fill the gaps.
Cheers
Al

Excellent work Al. I'm loving those conversions.

Hi Darren,
Thanks. The MB set of figs should be due out any time soon so they will add a few more possibilities for modellers.
I'm a bit stalled on the ambulance build as I'm awaiting a missing part.
Cheers

Nice work on the ambulance Alan. I like the weathering job your doing all over the place. Can't wait to see some gunners and other figures involved to the scene.
I did a little sidewalk in my modelling world. Building a ship.
A very different way of building and weathering. Finding a balance is the trick. So watching this topic is part of a learning proces to me

RJ

HI RJ,
Thanks. Variety is the spice of life, I'm partial to the odd boat myself. I paused in the first build to do an LCP R. I have a hull for the LCP L for a build at some point.
Hi Jerry,
Thanks. With the imminent arrival of the AFV Club early Matador a towed BEF gun would be another option .
Thanks for the encouragement guys.
Cheers

Hi folks,
I was down in Hannant's today picking up some kits and they had a set of the new AFV Club camo netting in stock so I picked one up for the gun emplacement.
This is an unusual product, as the sequencer seems to be spray any other colours you want on to it. Make a frame (provided in the packaging), soak the product in a small amount of water for 3 minutes and then life off and stretch to the required size, then leave to dry. It will be interesting to see how it turns out!
The netting
You peel off the top sheet , soak and then peel of the bottom one!
More fun

Very very interesting Alan.
But does a shape/form last forever? Will it transform after you spray it again?

RJ

Hi Robert,
No idea, sorry, have to wait and see how it works out. As I don't used a spray gun I'll probably just go with the green and then try and darken a few areas once I have the thing erected.

Hi Kurt,
In the early par of the war counter battery fire wasn't that effective but the threat from aerial observation was a big danger so the guns would normally be camouflaged up.
It will be interesting to see how it works out. I haven't see or heard anyone using them yet.
Cheers

Hello Alan ,
at the beginning of the war aerial observation was mainly used to spot enemy troops . In October 1915 the German high command gave the order to set up the first '' Artillerieflieger abteilungen '' or special units for aerial observation to assist friendly artillery for zeroing in the guns( or shooting in ? ) on the enemy artillery.
Nevertheless , i hope the experiment succeeds

Hi Romain and Kurt,
Many thanks, got some mud on this evening, just some small fittings to add to the rear and some tones to the mud and hopefully it will be good to go.

Hi folks,
Added some mud and dust to the vehicle, the rear handles, spare tyres and the rear light. The build is done now, just a little painting on the rear light and I'll probably need to add some dark blood stains to the floor and splatters to the interior walls.
Cheers
Al
Edit:
One of it on the base, it needs to be at a slightly different angle to leave enough space between the Crewe tractor and the vehicle.
Next job will be to sort the loads for the wagons.
