Hi Kurt,

The wagon can hold 4 stretchers, or any combination thereof. I left one end un-glued for now so I could try out different combinations.

I plan on a rum dump beside part of the track.

A hand cart is a possibility although I don't want to over crowd it. I'll see when I have the ambulance built how best to finalise the track and road layout.

The figure in the first picture is a SKP one who should be useable as a railway soldier as is as they often didn't wear their putties. The chap in the last one will provide the shorts for the engineer.

Cheers

Hi,

All quiet on the Western Front

Hi folks,

A bit more work on the wagon. It's now listed on the Resicast web site under 'Hot Stuff' and will come with some wounded figures and a soldier pushing the wagon. I had thought about painting it grey but will probably leave it natural wood.

Cheers

Hello Alan ,

i suggest oil washes of burnt umber and sienna will give the cart a more realistic view . Would it be a great idea to apply a few spots of dry and fresh blood on the wooden plate ?

Looking forward to more progress.

Hi Darren and Kurt,

Thanks for looking in.

An aerial view of the layout so far.

I'll need to finalise and secure the loads for the small Draisine wagons although I won't secure these on the track until I have the ambulance built and CCS developed a bit more.

Cheers

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for dropping in. I thought the spare wheels from the 6 inch might make a different load for the Draisine. I got some cable drums for the guys who will be working on the telephone line, the largest (not shown) is massive and I doubt I'd ever use it but it would make a good wooden base for a AA Lewis gun in the future perhaps.

The hand cart will have to wait for another home too as it is already looking pretty crowded and I still have to add the ambulance and make the walking wounded, medics and workmen for the line.

I'm off for a few days and have some work do do around the house but hope to get a bit more done over the coming days.

Cheers

Hi folks,

Made a start on the first of the walking wounded last night. These will mainly come from the Master Box German prisoners set with a few alterations.

This one will be carrying a Greatcoat and have a head wound and small wounds of the right arm and leg.

I may need to remove the back belt I'm not sure they were on the early coats?

Like the phrase...

Good job so far. How many wounded will there be walking?

Hi Robert Jan,

3 in all I think, this will be the 3rd

I believe Gerard is working in some stretcher cases for the wagon so that angle should be covered.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks, a bit of filler required, but they should pass muster when done. I had hoped MB would have followed up that set with some British wounded/prisoners but neither they nor MA obliged.

It still does seem to be a hassle to get Commonwealth subjects done, doesn't it? Getting better all the time though,to quote my favorite group.

Hi Jerry,

The last 3 years have seen a massive increase in 1/35 scale British figure subjects, still a lot of gaps though.

Hi folks,

A bit more work on the walking wounded. The detail on the figs is quite soft, but they should be OK when finished.

For the Stretcher Bearers I'll use a couple of the Bronco Bofors Crew.

Hi Kurt and Romain,

Thanks for the comments. A bit more work on the wounded. Unfortunately at the moment I can't find my chevron supply and they have yet to be blooded.

Cheers

Hi folks,

I made the first cut on the final main piece of the build - the Ford T Ambulance.

Looking forward to the build of this one as both the Model T and Draisine and 6inch howitzer were interesting and fun builds.

You can find reviews of all the main build items here:

Hi folks,

A couple of pics for reference. The Resicast kit features markings for this one.

As my scene is British I had thought about something like this:

Various charities contributed to the care and recovery of the wounded, donated supplied, and provided both staff and vehicles. If I understand what little I've read on the subject then theirs was a valuable contribution as the Army Medical Service had never before been put under such strain.

An alternative might be something like this, not so colorful though.

Cheers

Al
