Hi Romain.

Many thanks. Slings and faces to finish. They are a nicely done set, my only observation is that the SMLE and bayonet scabbards have a slightly squarish look to them.

I'll make one a LCpl and they will either go escorting the prisoners or marching off to the front behind the officer. They are the smaller end of 1/35 scale, but a very welcome addition to the WW1 figure range.

Cheers

Those are very nice figures. You are doing them justice as well.
Too many officers in this scene for my taste. But then again,it is behind the lines! LOL
Had to get my dig in at Romain,

Hi folks,

I didn't get a lot done in August, but took some time today to move things along. Added the wounded prisoner party and fixed some players in place, plus added some grasses to the rear of the canteen.

The releases of the Tamyia infantry should provide a kneeling medic between the two wounded by the ambulance and I made a start on the additional shells. I still have to finish the Crewe Tractor and I'm awaiting the release of the ICM British Infantry and Weapons set to see whether there will be some marching ANZACs coming up the road or the Model T Ford scooting off around the corner. Some tools need to be added and the cook/storeman give a fag and put in place.

Any way this is how to-days work went.

Hi Jerry,

Many thanks. Been busy with other things so not as much done this month as I had hoped. The ICM British Weapons set looks good and I'm keen to see what their new British Infantry are posed like. It would be nice to add a Commonwealth feel with some slouch hats coming up the road and my loan Indian Officer looks like becoming a cavalry man lol.

Hi folks,

Started work on the kneeling ANZAC Medic, this is one of the new Tamiya figures altered to suit. Makes more sense of the stretcher casualties.

Glad to see it as I was thinking last time I looked in on the new additions that the two strecher cases looked awfully lonely.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for keeping up and me motivated.

Hi Romain,

Thanks, some more progress pics below: The draft box art for the awaited new ICM figures show 4 soldiers marching. If that's what we get then I'll make them as ANZACs marching towards the front.

Hi David and Allan,

Thanks for looking in guys and the positive comments.

Cheers

Al

Hi folks,

I've reached a point where I need to put this one to bed for awhile. Some items I wish to add are not yet released and I'll pick this up again when they become available. Since the last update I've given the medic a cup and a bucket of water, added a water barrel for sponging the gun barrel and some grog to the gun position. The Indian Officer and horse have a home and the RSM and Officer have been added to where they will probably live. Some tools have appeared and some eggs and empty bottles by the canteen.

I still haven't come across the safe place I stored the rigging thread but I believe 2lb fishing line might work equally well for the telephone wire. I've misplaced a telephone I was working on to connect by the gun battery but it may turn up again.

There will be some soldiers marching up to the line behind Officer and to the side of the horse, but I will have to wait and see what ICM come out with. Their British equipment set looks like it will provide suitable parts to convert a few figures if necessary and if all else fails I can use some conversions and a couple of the MB set with different arms and head for the line of troops.

One item I haven't added to the crew tractor are the fender support arms, I haven't forgotten just haven't gotten around to it yet .

Picture update is a bit heavy and one sided but for the purposes of the campaign this has reached a stage where I could call it done and you'll get a good idea of the present state of progress.

Cheers

Al

Al,

Once again, apart from your obvious modeling and dio skills I find it very refreshing that you choose to include a plethora of subjects in your dios that are rarely seen in scale work. So it is always a pleasure to look at.

Hi Jerry,

Many thanks for looking in and the continued support. With the issue of the new Mk IVs hopefully we will see a few more WW1 projects in the coming months.

I can only concur with Jerry!

It was just brilliant to watch progress on this dio! Thanks for keeping us posted all the time!!

And there are a few "extra" beauties IMHO!! The 2 guys in shirts carrying the crate and the other one standing with his hands on his hips looking up!!

I just love them!!!!

Do keep us in the loop, pleaase!

Cheers

Dear Alan, Sir!

Some very good modellers show a one page story in their dio.
You bring us a whole book!
I thought I had seen everything since I do follow you from the beginning of this dio, but there is always a small item which creates a new 'Aha' feeling.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Hi Romain,

Many thanks, it has been an interesting journey into this period of history. I had a reasonable knowledge of the Great War but Part 1 and Part 2 made me look deeper into specific events and that's been really enjoyable. The kits and the figures are always a challenge, modelling for me is always a steep learning curve and it's fun to try new elements.

Hi Paul,

Again many thanks, I've a few more figures to add and a bit of personal kit to do, a tough up here and there but I'm glad you like the story. Often there are many different things happening within a small area as people go about the business of war and I've tried to capture a sense of that in the project.

Thanks you both for your support it has been a fun journey so far.

Cheers

Alan- I've been following this diorama since the first page- I just haven't commented on it but I have enjoyed every update and seeing it come together. At this point you can almost hear the sounds coming out of the scene- its compiled so well that it is easy to imagine it being part of a film roll in a documentary (a couple of edited black and white shots might be an idea to try out). As usual in your dios every corner and little scene tells a great story and its done with great attention to detail right down to the ash and burn marks at the bottom of the stove! In short- bravo sir, bravo!

Congratulations on your nearly finished dio. Wow, there is really no empty space left and your are still waiting for more stuff!

Well done!
