We've got some much-wished for kits (PT-76, Aussie Centurion, new tool M48A3, M42, V100, Ontos, M151) over the last few years and I was thinking about what might be next?

Here's what I'd like to see in plastic:

1. LVTE 1- USMC amtrac engineer vehicle.
2. NVA Type 63 apc/tank hybrid
3. Rome Plow bulldozer
4. M110 SP gun
5. M578 Recovery vehicle
6. M51 Heavy Recovery vehicle
7. Riverine Monitor (fat chance, I know)
8. PACV or ACV hovercraft (even fatter chance)
9. PBR Mk. I
10. M113 (new tool) --- all variants, including ACAV, Zippo, bridgelayer, M106, M577, Aussie APC.
11. M54 5 ton truck
12. M109 (new tool)
13. M53 SP Gun
14. M76 APC
15. M88 Recovery vehicle (be great to see the AFV Club 'Nam version out again).
16. M67 Flame tank
17. M548 Armored flame thrower fuel tanker
18. M114
19. M53 Scorpion SP gun
20. AH-1G Cobra
21. OH-6A Loach
22. Any Vietnam-era ammo or cargo trailers

Of course, there's always more...

What else would you like to see?

The M-37 3/4 ton truck and any of its family; ie, the M-43 ambulance,XM-708dump truck,XM-711 wrecker, V-41 telephone maintenance truck.
But mainly the M-37/ M-37B1 cargo versions in plastic,resin or unobtanium.... I really don't care... just make them. The aftermarket will fill in the blanks...I'll buy a case or two of them...

The LVTE, Scorpion, M54 and Rome Plow would be at the top of mine.

Great suggestions! But just to add to the PAVN column: AT-L, ATS-59 and Mazur D-350 artillery tractors, GAZ-46 and ZiS-485 amphibians, and the ZSU-57-2 air defense vehicle would all be excellent. I wouldn't mind some PAVN crewmen and riders to go with them, either. ARVN figures are even rarer than PAVN/VC, so why not some of those as well? And throw in a few Ruffpuffs! A guy can dream, right?
By the way, I hear Italeri is about to repop their M-108; that's good to hear.

Just thought of another one I'd like to see:
M125 81mm mortar track

how about a
Chinese T54?
Aussie M113 support vehicle
and some rubber fuel cells like the one Verlinden did years ago.

Isn't there already an M110 and a PBR (Mk. WII)?

An M48 with the mantle and seachlight would be awesome (stupid DML).

If I remember right though someone is releasing a new 'Nam Huey this year though.

First of all - standard M-113 with quality and accuracy of "XXI century level" of models!

Academy's M113A1 (1998 edition)is the best Vietnam M113 kit out there. It gives you the option to build a US Army ACAV, an Aussie or Korean APC, and a Zippo.It just needs some better M60's (like the ones in the Tamiya ACAV kit) and linked tracks.

I personally would love to see some new UH1D/H Huey's in 1/35. The only one of any worth on the market is the Dragon UH1D - which is just a rehash of older kits in 1/48. Even Italeri's re-release of their UH1D Huey in 1/48 doesn't have any nice extras such as a crew, M60D machine guns and pintle mounts.

I would love to see the following:
NEW TOOL M107 175mm SPH, and M110 8"
M53 155mm arty
M55 8" arty
M37 trucks
New tool M274 mule
M76 Otter
New accurate M50A1 Ontos and M551 Sheridan
Better M113s
M422 and M422A1 Mighty Mites in plastic. I have the Plus Models resin kit and it is sublime and beautiful in every way, but its $120!
New UH-1D/H in 1/35....too bad MRC didn't continue their Huey line past the Charlie models
A 1/35 UH-1E, you know, the Huey the USMC used.
New tool, accurate AH-1G in 1/35
More base camp accessories, as well as more figures. Early war Marines from 1965/66 would be awesome. Same goes for Army troops.
M14s!!!! Better flak jackets.
LVTP5s and LVTP6s...new tools or re-pop the AFV Club kit.
M88 Nam version, again, re-pop the AFV Club kit.
Mini-Art to do buildings for Nam cities like they do for European WWII stuff....
For DML to kick out an M48A3 early, non-Mod B, with a mantlet cover and an 18" Cruse-Hind searchlight.
More RVN civilians, and vehicles....
and anything pertaining to Hue and the Citidel would be welcome.
Good 81mm mortars and good 107mm mortars.
Conversion parts to make an M67 A2 flame tank, or a whole kit.
HAWK missile batteries!

Great list of vehicles. My gripe is about FIGURES to go with them.

And PLEASE!!! NO MORE jungle fatigues and boonie hats!!! How about some figures in both summer and winter uniforms like the HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of troops in the United States Army Europe (USAREUR) wore for generations during the cold war period!!!!!!

It would not take much to get me back to Vietnam era building in 1/35. Just a few things.

A re-do of the OH-6, the DML one is 15+yrs old... 1997???

The GOER is a monster... I love it!

I'm not trying to single you out Christopher , several people here and on other forums have made the same sort of comment.

Y'know, we'd all like a mantlet cover for the M48, but these things are a real b!tch to mould well in rigid plastic.

The Centurion mantlet cover was made in a softer vinyl and people moaned "too hard to clean up, paint doesn't stick, doesn't fit around the edges, doesn't take glue well", etc., etc.

Some shapes just are not condusive to moulding for the amount of money we are willing to spend on a kit. Perfecting a multipiece collapsable mantlet cover tool for an M48 kit at the cost of an additional 50-100K of tooling just isn't worth it to do the job right on the one little part.

I'd far prefer to add my own mantlet cover for 30 cents worth of epoxy putty and some quality modelling time or to spend $5 for a resin AM part if I didn't want to do it myself.

There's also the inevitability that for everone who really, really wants a mantlet cover, there's another guy who wants to be able to freely position the gun elevation for some project.

Sometimes we need to step back a bit, take a look at the entire package and see whether or not we are truely unhappy about the lack of a mantlet cover on a model that is leaps and bounds better than the previous offerings. Personally, I'm OK without the cover.

Paul, I understand that it's difficult for them to get some shapes in plastic, or people might want to change the elevation of the gun etc. etc. But doesn't Tamiya's Patton have a plastic cover? I think if breathe role Tamiya kit has it a new DML kit should. I agree with you it isn't hard to make one yourself I just think DML should have known better. Look at how much people complained about the T28? Yeah, again that's an issue of spending large sums of money on their part but why do it if you're not going to do it right?

Pascal, if we're lucky Ment might do it, seeing as their D9 was fantastic.

Speaking about the Goer, it is not really a Nam War vehicle. Only 26 were send to Nam for a try and shortly after return to the States. Goer were mostly seen serving in USRAREUR in Germany

The only v100 I ever saw was resin and very expensive. does any manufacturer make one in plastic 1/35th scale?

+ Artillerie crew firing and resting

+ 81 and 107/120mm mortars and crew (The Tamiya set is old)

+ Civilian cars and civilians in general. Would be partially useful for non Vietnam settings as well since quite a bit was french made

+ News crews and war protesters

The Riverine crafts up to the Swift boat should be doable in 1:35 scale size/price wise since at least two companies produce the only slightly smaller LCM-3 (and IIRC Revell has a 1:48 Swift out)
