Detail: Ceiling control for roof mounted "trailer in tow" lighted warning sign.
Note that the control handle shown above is mounted off-center to the left. The two bolt heads are the actual center mount for the sign itself.

Coal/wood gas (holzgas) version of the Opel Blitz. This example also sports the Einheits-Fahrerhaus, a wood and pressed board cab designed to conserve precious wartime metal supplies:

Italeri's offering of the Holzgas Blitz with Einheits cab.
Very unusual Opel Holzgas wrecker.

I had seen other, more distant photos of this same shelter/tank truck but always thought it was just a home built shelter body. I guess the disguise worked!
As to the fire truck; I knew Calibre made this conversion in 1/35th but have never really been sure why Italeri would offer this vehicle in 1/24th as a straight kit but not in 1/35tn.
Thanks Frenchy.

Plus Models also markets a 4x4 resin conversion which includes the ambulance shelter body:
Never been exactly sure why Plus Models does not offer the 4x4 conversion by itself as there are many applications for such an offering.
(Recent update: I believe Plus Models is how selling the 4x4 portion of this conversion kit separately.)

Something on a related topic that might be of interest:
A 1935/6 Ford cab mated to a Bren Gun Carrier chassis. I photographed this example several years running at the Lowell, Indiana, Buckley Homestead WWII military event south of Chicago. The owner said this vehicle's lineage can be traced back as far as 1949 Alaska. (Perhaps a Russian wartime chop job?)

New offering from ICM; the lighter weight Opel 2.5:
I wish ICM had gone for the one ton Blitz instead. There are greater physical differences between the one ton and the all too familiar standard Opel Blitz 3.6 plus there were all kinds of interesting panel truck variants to the one ton; Postal Van, Propaganda Van, Ambulance!
