I received a notice that Dragon is taking advanced orders for their M-6 Heavy Tank. I am hesitant to take on the offer having bought the T-28 and M103. Both kits are unique and I built the T-28, with all the problems, and think it came out rather nice. Relying heavily on Pawel's commentary on the M103 (e.g.--- how the heck did they put a 1/48 gun mantle on a 1/35 kit?) I will cautiously start that build next week.
The question I am pondering is whether to jump on the M-6 or wait.....what say you?
thanks

I would have except for DML's dismal performance on the M103.
I was willing to give them a little slack on the T28, but after the M103 failure, I'll wait and see what they do with the M6.
Quite disappointing all around. I was looking forward to the release, but not so much now.
No pre-orders for me.

I jumped on the M103 as soon as it came out and was disappointed. I like the look of the M6, but I think I am going to wait to make sure it's buildable first.

Same.
I'll wait to see if people end up throwing the kit out of windows or setting it on fire before I buy it.

I will (what the heck... it's only money), but it'll take a while because of everything else I need to build first.

Put me down for a tentative maybe. I'll wait for a few reviews and build logs to show up online (which is something I always do anyway) before I pull the trigger. Unless there are serious issues however, and I mean way more serious than the problems with the M103 kit, odds are I'll pick it up at some point just due to how unusual a subject it is.

Being mostly a Canadian armour fan, I still like the look of it, and might just consider a what if Canada decided to use it, maybe taking them to Korea.

I don't think it could get much more flawed than the 103.... except if DML took your money and sent you an empty box, maybe.

Careful now, someone at Dragon could be reading this and thinking 'challenge accepted'.

I won't be pre-ordering it but I may just buy it as long as the reviews aren't too bad.
It's a cool looking beast of a thing and I think it could be a lot of fun as a what-if tank.

I am tempted! The tedious assembly of the T-28 caused me to use a great deal of my limited patience. For example, the bogie assembly called for the insertion of a spring between two assemblies. I did this for one string of four. I did not do it for the next four. Never noticed a difference so I now have a collection of small springs. The track called for the placement of center guide for each track block. Why? But, I digress. Usually Zaloga does a review but then he always creates chicken salad out of chicken doo. After saying all that, I am still tempted

I'm sure that I will eventually but it won't be a preorder after the M103. I like the tank but not enough to pay full price unless it reviews out as much better than the the T28 or M103.

At least the M 103 does not replicate the Chinese water torture of placing center guides in the track....we'll see

Me too ....
I am counting myself lucky that I didn't have time to buy the T-28 or M103 before I read the reviews/comments

After being stung by the M103 I will wait until the M6 is disected before I buy it. The first few M103 reviews were positive so I will wait quite awhile before I buy.

I might buy it. Of course... that would have to wait until I have the time AND the money... A whole $50 in cash to my name :/...
By the way, the M103: on releases after the initial run, have the problems been corrected? Sorry to go off topic.

Hi All,
DML gave themselves a serious black eye with the T28 and then proceeded to repeat the process with the M103. I guess we know where their "A" team has its priorities (read: WW2 German). With that said, I'm going to wait. However, there is a glimmer for those out there willing to wait: Squadron's pre-Thanksgiving sale. If you order US$500 worth of stuff you get 50% off and free shipping in the US (I'm not sure if that extends to the rest of the world). That makes these kits affordable and makes the $75 T28, $37.50. I can handle a messed up model at that price. Just my 2 cents.
Regards,
Georg

Unless it was declared that production would be limited to a very small number, why would anyone pre-order any kit?
I think pre-orders must be a hold-over from the local hobby shop days where a shop might only get an initial set of four or six kits and might not get any more because that would entail some minimum buy.

SQD does free shipping on any orders over 150$
Already looking forward to that sale though; their March Madness one was pretty good.

If it's good I'll buy it but what's up with the M103? Is it just the mantle?

A lot more than that. Suspension, gun, turret, hull - pretty much everything a tank has.

The fact that they released that abomination? Pretty much everything has some sort of issue.
