Hilarious! But you do realize you are now morally obligated to add some Lego® soldiers!

Great build overall. I think a person needs to know when to Lego though, and stop piling up the rubble. This may just be aboot that point...

I second every other comment about how good this build looks, can't wait to see you get the soldiers in their positions.

Hey Mike,
I think it's looking fantastic.
I've lost sight in half my left eye and I find it bit of a problem painting.
An old trick I learned from many years ago posts is to leave the dio out in the sun for a few days.Mother nature will take care of shading and a lot of weathering.

Come on! Really? What if it rains, or snows? One thing I know for certain from working outside for a living is the ability of the sun to fade painted things. I might have to try that myself.

Mark,
Fair enough -- as long as I don't have to paint their eyes!

Dave,
It was the Soldiers that made me just a little nutty this week! I just completed my first attempt at painting eyes -- all twelve of them! From Brick Worker to Eye Surgeon ! I needed a humor break after that epic!

Tom,
I certainly feel your pain. I lost vision in my left eye a couple of years ago. At least we haven't lost our sense of humor!!!

Thanks Guys, glad you could get a laugh out of my insanity!

Mike,
One thing I didn't notice until just now--probably too over-awed by your brickwork--is the close proximity of the still-intact trolley cable to your devastated building. Seems it would have been quite a miracle for that cable to survive the explosion that brought down that wall. Besides, might look cool to have it draped over the disabled BA-3. Just a thought.

Figures, and especially eyes on them have a way of doing that Mike. But like I tell people, and hear them telling me as well, the short term pain for long term gain is a necessary evil in the world of diorama building. I may be paraphrasing a bit. But something to that effect anyway.

Most of us struggle with some aspect of figuring, even the greats on this and other forums. But the only way to get to Carnegie Hall.... practice, practice, practice.

Mark,
I thought about that long and hard from the onset, as the box art suggests (wrongly, I might add). However, it was the irony of that survival which I was determined to recreate i.e., the Soviets in their struggle to survive the horrific bombing and shelling attacks upon their cities. And through all of that devastation; they persisted and remained standing tall.

Here are some images which inspired me (Note the cables):

Loose translation: “Citizens! This side of the street is more dangerous during shelling.”

I'm uncertain as to whether the cables miraculously survived -- maybe the photos were taken after tram lines were repaired in order to keep the cities operational. If anyone has any insight to this, please feel free to comment here.

PS: In the future, I would really like to do something with destroyed cables (see below):

Cheers!
