But just as a note, the gun on the T-55 is a 40mm Bofors

Mike the Gun you are thinking of that was rechambered to 37mm is a Russian 61-K 37mm model 1939 gun. you can see the difference in the barrel just in front of the receiver, you can see the slotted opening for the 40mm barrel compared to the 37mm. There is also a difference in the drive gear used to rotate and elevate the gun.

I have a question though, was the vehicle used an ARV or similar , I ask because of the protrusions on the front of glacis, I presume these were used for attaching a block of wood or such for pushing "things" around.

Paul from what I can gather, the vehicle either started life as a BTS series ARV or maybe as something like the Czech T-55C-1 dozer. It's hard to tell, but it almost most looks like there is a second hatch just below the front support base for the gun. If it's a BTS-1 then all they would have to do was remove the storage basket from the rear hull since this version was not equipped with a winch. Also look at the rear of the hull you can see something that looks like the remains of the bottom half of the basket the gun platform is sitting on.

Paul sounds like a great build you have lined up for us. I'm still deciding what to build

Which trump tracks are you using, are the single links or the workable links? If they are the workable ones, you will need to modify the pins some, their not long enough and a some of the tracks kept popping off on the ones I was building.

Nothing wrong with going the cheap route especially after getting so many kits to build just one Trump tracks are nicely detailed, just wish they would pull their heads out of their four points of contact when it comes to their workable tacks and make the pins longer.

He thought it may have originally been a Bridge Layer version??

Hi Mike, 150$AUD's is about 100€ which is also here a hell of a lot of money. But as I live in Germany or modellers paradise, I paid 73€
29€ for the bofors
35€ for the T55
5€ for the tracks
4€ for the gun barrel
I have heard and seen that Holland, Belgium, the UK, Denmark, the US, Japan and now Australia are getting expensive for kits .
I suppose it's just a matter of time before we get hit too.

BTW I'm still chasing around the net for information......

73 is still a lot of money in my book it converts to like a 100 here in the US, still don't understand how anyone can afford to build models these days. The project I'm looking at building will cost around 150-200 in US dollars. I'm wanting the new Stalingrad refugee set and cart which are not cheap in any country. Not to mention either a T-64 or T-80 to go with the build. Oh well I still have time to save up money between now and January.

I like the idea of displaced civilians walking as tanks rush pass them or maybe troops trying to help them cross a river to safety.

I was tossing around the idea of a Zil-485 ferrying people back across the river
