My only advice: BUILD, don't STASH!

Wish I could, but it's like my Dad's '68 Buick at the gas station - unless he turned the engine off, the pump stood no chance of catching up!

Perhaps the big guys at TAMIYA feel that they could never catch up to their Chinese competition. China has an economy and labor force all their own- I don't need to expound on the details. If TAMIYA is going to re-box ITALERI, FINE MOLDS and TASCA kits, that's THEIR choice. We all know that re-boxing Chinese kits is not an option for TAMIYA...

Referring to M1s- DRAGON is supposed to be re-releasing their excellent #'s 3535 M1A1 AIM & 3536 M1A2 SEP sometime this year. Let's see if that actually happens...

True, just sad to see Tamiya, used to be my favorite manufacture, they are capable of better and yes what they release is up to them.

The M1 kit I was referring to was the M1 Super Sherman not the Abrams (sorry should have been more clear) while it's an ok kit from the sponsons up (lower hull is from their earlier shermans). It's not worth what it sells for in the LHS here ($70.00 CDN) compared to about the same for a Dragon kit and about $85 to $90 for a Tasca sherman.

Rod

That's a good one Tom, darn near fell out of my chair laughing.

To bad it's so true with me, I keep tell myself it's for my retirement. But then SWMBO said I can't retire until they put me six feet under.

Ok Jim and Gary,

I am not going to post a photo the shelfing unit that I have with just Shermans on it (Tasca, Dragon, and yes even a couple of Tamiya kits)

Rod

I still buy Tamiya products, I like the easy builds every now & then. Just yesterday I bought the Churchill 17 pounder..the kit with the little wagon & basket too lol..
Compared to the AFV Churchill , this Tamiya Churchill will be a breeze! I plan on getting the Cromwell as well...or maybe the more expensive SKP Model 35099 $80

@Easy 8: no sprue shots are necessary. The Firefly VC has been out since around 2005 or so. We have heard that in its Tamiya offering, it's cheaper than the former Tasca/Asuka boxing. Do you mind sharing where you got yours from and how much?

I picked the kit up from a local shop in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I paid 1550 NT (or $51 US) for it. This was a mom and pop shop so I would think the big stores would have them as well. Not sure about the States.

It's on pre-order on Hobby Easy at 24.69 euros which is less then half the price you find the Tasca model in Italy (and Tasca doesn't give any figures).
Shipping cost is the same inside Italy then from HK.
