Are these Tamiya's own tooling or a rebox of someone else(Tasca)?

If that's not the "Tasca/Asuka" kit reboxed with some of Tamiya's own now quite old 1/35 infantry figures, I will be astounded. Even the decals are the same as one of the Tasca Firefly VC kit options.

Looks like the rumours circulating a couple of weeks ago of Tasca/Asuka going T.U. and the molds being bought by the big 'T', may be correct after all. I did wonder why there has been a glut of them on UK eBay of late being sold by traders who were selling them at very reasonable prices (for the brand) as well. I bought a few myself at prices averaging about 30% -35% off RRP.

A superb range of 1/35 M4's irrespective of the cardboard box they appear in!

It is Tasca kit. It was announced a few weeks ago. Tamiya will also rebox Tasca Easy-8.

It is just a rebox. Tamiya has not bought Tasca molds. Tamiya has been reboxing other manufacturers kits for years (mainly Italeri).

Those arms are part of the "houseboat" canvas cover system, designed to make the tanks look like covered cargo trucks in air-recon photos. (Same with the square fittings on the hull sides.)

I hope Tasca is just selling sprues to Tamiya (their FaceAche page is calling for suggestions for new kits, so it looks like they are still a going concern) but I wish they'd put some effort into getting their webstore working again so I can order more sprues...

There's a Tasca Sherman sitting on the shelf at Dundas Valley Hobby here in Ont, Canada with a price tag of $104 CAD !!! lol wow !

There's a couple of Tasca's sitting on a shelf at Udisco (Montreal) at $98 CAN. And I thought that was expensive!! Maybe we should start a new thread with the most ridiculous prices seen. BTW the 4,400 on the signs of the above kit - is that the price in Yen? If so that would make it around $45 USD. Is that right?

Yeah, but toss on about $10 for shipping and there's your $45.

The flexible track on the newer Tamiya M51 Isherman is pretty good,on par with Dragon DS,on a ssherman it doesn't make that much diffrence.

So if this is actually a Tasca kit,then,would that be a good thing? never had a Tasca but I have heard good things.But the newer Tamiya M50 and M51 are decent builds also,a little simple,but not bad.But if this is a Tasca kit,I take they are more detailed then your average Tamiya kit ? More like a Dragon Kit ?

THEY ARE TASCA.

This was announced several weeks ago. And the tracks look exactly like the ones originally issued by Tasca.

However in this new batch of kits, Tamiya is also issuing an M4A3 with Calliope (T-34) rocket launcher. This is NOT Tasca but rather the Italeri molding. Acquire at your own risk.

Well it's time to start saving and putting whatever change I have in my wallet aside for these . *shriek comes from wallet* I think my wallet had another heart attack. At least these are going to be "Tamiya-priced" instead of "Tasca-priced," although the Tasca-price would still be money well spent.

It's a shame Tamiya couldn't give us a 'new' set of Brit Infantry figures to go with it...some fighting poses would be great as they have not done Brit figures in action since the old (three man) boxed set.

Well that would depend on where you are; in Australia a Tasca Sherman is about $65 and the new Tamiya Armour in excess of that although I have noticed a downward shift just recently but not of the newer releases.
Very welcome releases although I am looking at a stack of five Vc's plus numerous other Tasca Shermans as I type

Hi, ALL!!! You know what? If you're a real "Shermaholic", you can build about 50 different US/Allied M4-series Mediums and STILL HAVE NO TWO VEHICLES EXACTLY ALIKE! WHO NEEDS ALL THOSE TIGERS?!? As far as variety goes, I'll take the good ol' M4-series Medium ANYTIME!!!

I tend to build my 1/35 stuff with just the barest minimum of weathering, in order to show off all the details. Just a little bit of post-shading, minimal road dust, a pin-wash and just a touch of dry-brushing to pop the details. I don't buy into the idea of super-detailing a model to the max and then slopping about twenty-five pounds of simulated mud all over it. Within the M4-series, for instance, the most minor differences can be pretty hard to spot, even if you're more than familiar with what you're looking at, without covering it up with a bunch of gook. Not that I'm incapable of creating a realistic "mud-job"; I just prefer a "slightly-used look", as one would find in a real-live AFV collection or at a reenactment... Not pristine, but not filthy, either...

I'm a perfectionist nut, so I spend most of my assembly-time in adding, correcting, modifying, and super-detailing with PE and/or resin, kit-bashing/scratch-building, etc on ALL of my projects. The various merits and/or downright stupid mistakes that I may find on any given subject are just something that I EXPECT to encounter even before I break the seal on the box. It's easier that way.

I've built some pretty nice M4s by using the ANCIENT TAMIYA M4 kit- Granted, by the time I got done with all the corrections, extras, PE, blah, blah, blah, I will have spent almost as much money (and a lot more time) as going out and buying a TASCA Sherman at retail price, extras not included. That's OK, at least I have the satisfaction of having completed something that didn't require a mere shake of the box to put it together. Don't get me wrong- those TASCA M4s are wonderful kits! They look GREAT when they're completed, but somehow, I just don't feel as proud when I've built a TASCA M4 as I do once I've finished an old, challenging TAMIYA Sherman...

I've seen a few TASCA M4s on eBay, at some pretty decent prices, I might add. They're certainly priced for a lot less money than what some of these UNSCRUPULOUS THIEVES are posting CYBERHOBBY "Wittmann's Last Ride" Tiger Is for... What's the big deal, anyway? You can buy a DRAGON "Late" Tiger I and a decal set for a FRACTION of the price of that CYBERHOBBY thing any day of the week- I guess some guys just HAVE TO HAVE Wittmann's name on the box...

Yeah, Tamiya could include Dragon's Monte Casino Brit figures with a Tasca Sherman, with their name on the box!!

Aww crap got me all wound up again, I would have much more respect for Tamiya if they would produce their own kits to the standard they are capable of, I liked their resent 1/32 scale aircraft (Mustang and Corsair) just wish they would put the same kind of effort into their 1/35 scale armour kits, instead we get motorized toys, and reboxed kits from other manufactures (the Tasca ones I don't mind as the Tasca kits themselves are getting harder to find).

Well, not (really ) wanting to rain on anyone's parade, but Tamiya have had 30+ years to improve their game. They're still offering much of their original catalogue...

This should be seen as VERY positive indeed - things don't get ANY better than Tasca M4s. The old Tamiya British infantry? Keep some of the equipment throw the rest....
