Nice work there matey. Having seen the pics you sent me, I'm still not totally convinced by the rope. It's not far off, but in 1/35 the weave could perhaps be less visible.

Nice work mate.... As for the weave and scale?
AA item and it is the best game in town and works for me.
Keep up the great work.

I used the AA items on the build and I think they will stay,
looking at it the following day It doesn't look too bad

The finish is looking surperb Dan. On the rope, maybe it's the sit where it loops up from the towing shackle that's catching the eye as much as the weave/size/ Either way it still looks the part. Plus I've found once the tracks go on and it's whole it often takes the emphasis off details that might otherwise stand out too much.

This is likely a kinetic tow rope rather than a small tow rope. There are different size and braid depends on the overall diameter. In this case it is a bigger kinetic tow rope so the braid are most likely visible even at this scale.
Looks very good to me.

I like it. The camo colors and weathering look really good. I agree on the rope, perhaps it is more on the positioning it from the shackle than the braid... anyhow, the model looks great, can't wait to see it finished.

Hi Dan,
The rope does look a bit on the large size but if it's a KE towrope it's an extremely short one!! KE ropes are effectively used as giant bungie type ropes for recovery from mud and as such need to be long. On the positioning side of things if you have a look of some of the pics of the various variants of CVRT on the following link you will see that commmon practice for us was to cross the rope across the front sponson and then loop them over the wing mirror arms. This stopped them trailing too low at the front and made it very quick and easy to hitch them too another wagon should you become stuck and need a pull out. Sometimes a short length of D10 (communications cable) was used to secure the rope but it still remained a doddle to undo and use.

Thanks Chaps,
Ultimately I'm not happy with the Kinetic ropes, they are bit of a nightmare to manhandle into position and to get a natural look about them. They are the Accurate Armour items.
Big thank you to Max for the link, so without further ado I'm working on the second version.
I still think the cord is too thick !

Great link Max, those Bob Wood pics are an awesome reference for quite a few vehicles. The Jackals on home turf particularly interested me as I've got two to build soon in 1/48th.
And I hate to say it but now I agree, that darn tow rope is a little on the thick side .....

They look too thick and too short when compared to an actual vehicle and they are way too short for a KE rope.
My old unit has just re-roled onto Jackal and Coyote from CVRT, I imagine there will be a lot more work for them in the future, however as an ex-MBT and CVRT bloke I would want something a bit more powerful than a .50

Very nice mate and well done with your choice of colors for the uniforms... Multicam (the new stuff) is going to be even more difficult to reproduce.

Dan, incredible work on this and the Chieftain. It's been inspirational following both builds. A couple questions for you.
What size lenses did you use for the headlights and spotlight?
Have you ever used XF-65 Field Grey for the green color? If so, how well do you feel it matches up?

Cheers Chaps, drivers turn for some colours now,
for those interested in the colour choices for the DPM pattern here is a quick pic, I did spray a dark green first as a base coat over the primer.
As for the Lens used for the headlights I think that they were 3.5mm, the GPMG searchlight is 2mm.
Paints I used in my opinion are pretty close to an in service wagon that has seen a lot of action, IE some bleaching out of the green. As for XF-65 I haven't yet tried it but I would imagine it would look okay.
Cheers

Cheers Brian, it does look very close to what I saw during my time in service, I'm very chuffed with the way it's turned out.
