After a really long break, I finally started painting the dio elements.
Tent inside and BRAVO-6 Delta Blues are already done.

Abi, it is great seeing you back working at this diorama.
The cots and stuff looks great, I like the slight variations of green color. The figures are perfect. Well done.
Don't keep us waiting so long with the next in-progress photos.

I am so glad to see some more progress photos.
I really love the ERDL poncho liners tied up on the rucksack frames. And your helmet camo covers look very realistic. Your attention to the smallest detail is amazing.
Nothing like the combination of Marlboro Red and Budweiser!

Looking very good! One small comment, usually in base you wouldn't have weapons laying around with magazine in them. Small detail, but safety issue. Keep the pics coming. Wayne

Hello Engin,
Your progress on this project is inspirational. It is good to see the ERDL poncho liners, the folded jungle fatigue shirt in the foot locker, and all of the other finer details.
Wayne is right about the M16s usually being unloaded back at base camp. Sometimes it depended on when and where you were and the policies of the local commander, but generally speaking, in major base camps weapons would have been unloaded in the tents. Sorry about overlooking that fact during our email discussions. I was distracted by all the cool small details you have been including in your diorama.
I really like how this diorama is coming along.
Cheers,
James

Thanks all for nice comments. Your opinions are so important for me.
Wayne- James : I should think to remove magazines but unfortunately too late as I glued them but I will remove them from other M16s that will be on scene. I have a reference tent photo with and without mags so this can save the situation.

Engin, my Friend,
I think you should be fine with having M16s with magazines in them if you include the unit, camp, and date when you make the title plate for your diorama as the unit you were planning to depict did keep magazines in their weapons for their first few months in country.
Cheers,
James

Yes, it would depend on the base and state of alert they were on.On the bigger bases they would make you turn them in at the arms room. They called a practice alert on us at Long Binh and wouldn't issue us magazines because of all the racial tension. Glad it was just a practice! Wayne

With the back of a brand new blade, you might be able to JR* the magazines off even glued to the cot. The back of the blade scribed gently many, many times can take that magazine off. JR meaning a technique recently taught on this forum by Jerry using the back of the newest of blades to scribe rather than cut, which seems to give a lot more overall control over the direction of the scribe.

Folding tables for food are done. Fruits and corn on the cob scratch from Magic sculpt, dishes from plasticard, Bud cans from plastic strip with self-made decals, C-rat cans from BRAVO-6. Fork and knives from Aber but had to cut them as they were oversized for this scene.

Just found this and I love what you've done so far. My first impression was of the excellent skill you have displayed in making the tents and cots. Then I was equally impressed w/ the way you handled all varying tones of green. Nicely done sir!
Will be waiting for more progress
