Hi all,
My new project is a Vietnam Basecamp with BRAVO-6 resting posed GIs. There will be about 10+ figures on the scene.
I couldn't find any suitable 1/35 scale tents on market so I had to do it myself. Unfortunately, there is no Vietnam diorama with tent to use a reference and I used the measures of an original GP Medium tent and converted them to my scale. Thanks to Gino for pointing me a very good website for dimensions.
Tent is made of Magic Sculpt and Tamiya epoxy /putty, but still have a long way. Cots are done and wait for the paintwork. Foot lockers are on the first stage.
Hope you like it. Comments and critics will be guidelines on this built.
Best regards

Looking really good. The GP medium section looks the part, as do the guy lines, excellent detail on them! I see what looks like a separate lid on one of them. Are you planning on having one of the footlockers open? Going to follow this one, off to an excellent start.

I really enjoyed your thread on scratch-building the cots. Glad to see you're moving forward with this next phase. Great details on the guy wires and the tent sag looks very natural. I'll be following this one for sure.

Cots and footlockers looking good!! The tent and guide poles looking great!! Realistic sag in the canvas for sure. Be advised though, the GP Medium tent had side panels and they could not be detached. So you will have to show them rolled up on all 4 sides. There were built-in retaining straps for this purpous.

Hi Engin,
prep work looks just fine! Well done!
Jerry took the words right out of my mouth! Sidepanels are not an option!!! They are part of the top panels. So rolls you must make and attach!!
Good luck!!
Cheers

Thanks all for your comments.
John - Yes, one of the foot lockers will be open. Lots of work on them to add all metal hinges.
Mario - Bro, I decided to use 6 kits from Bravo-6. Verlinden also have good posed figures for such a scene but they will be overscale with Vladi's figures. Maybe a few more additions from converted Dragon or HobbyFan figures.
Jerry and Romain - Thanks for heads up on side panels. Side panels will be added on next step. First I thought to make them rolled up with straps but then decided to make them upfolded for a more realistic look as in the photos.
keep safe all.

Hey Engin, absolutely great dio going on. A subject pretty much overlooked, much time in the army is hurry up and wait. Your scratch building is fantastic. Will be following your progress on this one for sure. bob d.

Engin,
This tent looks pretty good so far. One you get the side rolls installed, it will be golden. I like your guide ropes and the cots as well as the footlockers. I've been wanting to do a scene similar to this for a while, but did not know how to go about making the tent and cots. Your step by step on the cots was very good and was quite helpful.
I can't wait to see the final diorama.
Keep up the great work.
James

Hi all,
Some progress on tent. I added side panels. Need sanding for a better look, then straps will be added.

Hi Engin,
Well done on those side panels! Congratulations!
Don't forget that the tents in general are fabricated from stripes of material ca. 80 cms wide. Just make sure these seams are visible in the end product.
Cheers

Looks good. I can appreciate the work here as I just learned how to make fabric thing out of putty myself. Not easy!

Hi Engin,
Really nice work on your canvas! That looks terrific - I can only imagine how frustrating it was to get the putty to form correctly! Good show
Cheers

Thanks all for your comments.
Romain - Thanks for straps info. you mean they should be 8 cm.s wide?
I added front side panels. To show different effects, I made one rolled up and tied, the other folded up and tied. Time to make the door now, but I need better reference photos for this. Help would be appreciated.
best regards

No, my friend, it means the material those (and other ) tents are made of is 80cm wide.
If you look at the first of your 2 vintage photos, you see the seams where these parts are attached.
Cheers
