Hi Donald

I would suggest paying a visit to a doctor or hospital just to get yourself checked out. Banging your head can have delayed unintended consequences.

Thank you Pawel. Great photo and most timely. Dragon PE part MA1 "vent" is not quite as well illustrated in the kit #3556. Much appreciated!

Thanks for your concern, I was to the emergency room after the fall. I have a concushion and some damage to the nerves in my left arm. My work has slowed as the arm doesn't want to co-operate with me all the time.
I might have some pics. Saturday or sunday.

Sorry about your fall. As others have noted, please make sure you get yourself looked at! If you're having issues with motion, that, in particular, is something you should not delay in having treated!

That said, I'd like to know which Live Resin sets you got for your tank. I see that the M2 machine gun itself is LRE 35144. However, I'm not sure which set you have for the feed chute and flexible ammunition. I'd really like to duplicate the sets you have. Thank you!

The Feed Chutes are a separate set #LVR-35147 you get 4 pieces, they are flexible resin, so you will need super glue to fasten them in place. They cut really easy with a sharp knife. I used thin strips of scrap Photo-etch brass on each end of the run.

Have some of the Tamiya turret fittings finished.

I used the DEF Models masking on the clear parts, fit is excellent .

And now I present, THE SMOKE GRENADE LAUNCHER ASSEMBLIES

I assembled the DEF Models , Tamiya , & an extra Fron the Dragon kit

I think the DEF Models look the best.

Donald:
I'm following your blog with great interest. having just bought the kit, I'm keen to follow your example. I went to the DEF Models website and couldn't find the kit that had the grenade launcher assemblies. Is there a part/kit number for it?

They may look good because of the PE mounting brackets, but the angles of tubes are correct only in Dragon launchers. All other 1/35 launchers I saw, including the DEF ones, have too narrow "spread" of tubes. Dragon M250 launchers were designed using the technical and operational manuals of the real things, which among others specify the exact angle of each tube. Note for example that innermost tubes (when launchers are attached to the tank) should fire directly forward (and upward of course - I mean that grenades land exactly in front of the tank). Good luck trying to achieve that with Tamiya or DEF launchers...

EDIT: Sorry, my memory failed me here - the innermost tubes should fire 5 degrees to the side from the direction of tank movement. Still it is angle not achievable with DEF and Tamiya launchers. Full spread of tubes is 50 degrees.

Please keep in mind that the above illustration shows correct angle values, but the drawing itself does not represent the angles correctly.

Here is a nice photo of M250s:

Note that the launcher base is lying flat on the ground.

By the way, each Dragon "third generation" Abrams kit, i.e. AIM, SEP and SEP V2 (third because, old M1A1 kit was the first generation and M1 Panther II kit was second) includes a pair of extra M250 launchers - a present from me to all modelers They can be used with other Abrams or e.g. M60 kits

Hi Pascal.
The number for the set is DE35006 I don't know if you can get it from their web site.
I purchased it from spruebrothers.com Their number for it is
DEFD35006 M1A2 SET TUSK II Pe. set for the Tamiya kit
Sprue brothers price is $11.99 U.S. Dollars plus shipping.
Hope this helps.

The smoke units are installed on the Tamiya turret. I had to raise them up a bit to clear the reactive armor mounts.
If I got them wrong, I'm sure one of the experten will let me know.

Thanks, Donald. Based on your comments about the accuracy, can one combine the DEF mounts with the Dragon launchers?

I don't see why not, you wll have to either load the Dragon launchers or drill them out as they have shallow tapered tube openings.

These are the track that I'll be using.

The Dragon Track for the Dragon kit. If I remember right I'll have to shorten the track run a link or two.

The Bronco track for the Tamiya kit.

There's a lot of clean up with this one.

You need a total of 75 Track Blocks for the Tamiya Kit.
