Hello all, just my two cents about the shape of the HB body. In the pictures from Pawel' s reply "Oh my... It's bad...". I can immediately see his point on at least one thing that cannot be easily fixed. The shape of the front wheel arch is really poorly done. The photo of the real VBL shows the wheel arch follows the round shape of the tire for the most part. The HB front wheel arch looks too flat as you work aft.
Regards,
Eric

I am now leaning more towards the TM offering afterall. Allthough the roof is a bit off and molding is a lot softer it indeed captures the look better.
Still holding out for a real good comparison review, but have to agree that TM seems to have done more things right.

it's a perfect kit if you want to build the VBL completely covered with a Camo-net. Otherwise it's a joke not a VBL

Now this is a kit I have eagerly awaited in plastic. Now if they could just have a look at the AML series of Armoured cars.

Already in the final stretch. I did not like it at all.

Nice build Luis.
One can see the wrong wheel arch and the too big ngine louver.
The Portuguese green is really dark. Are the decals correct for your army? Some of the French ones are not.
Wouter, thanks for your kind comment and I do apologize for not having earlier noticed your message.

Luis.. you may not have liked it, but you did a good job building it.. To my non-expert eye, it just looks like a nicely built model

The picture was taken with poor light.
In general the decals are correct. Only the ones on the doors are a little small. The flag is aftermarket.

This will be my next VBL project... a bit ambitious for my painting skills, but I just have to try it

Nice choice Hisham but you won't be able to buid it straight from the box. The engine air intake is different. It is rectangular with two fans instead of circular with a single fan. So a bit of scratchbuilding is needed.
I agree with you about the challenging camo scheme.

I'm ashamed to say it, but I'm not good at scratchbuilding, especially if it's to accurately replicate a real vehicle.. so I'm thinking of building it as a what if... maybe if.. say Lebanon was to get some regular VBLs and paint them like that.. I just want to do this cammo scheme
By the way, what would I need to get to do that grenade launcher instead of the regular machine gun?

Hisham, this was my attempt at the Mexican Army cammo VBL a couple of years back:
It was the old Azimut resin kit, so it was full of defects. And I think my digital "pixels" are a bit big. But anyways, there it is.

The pixels might be a bit big, but it still looks cool
What did you use for the grenade launcher cradle? Is there something ready made out there, or did you have to scratch a cradle for it?

I had to scratch build it. Used styrene sheet plastic. It wasn't so hard, as the design is very straight forward and simple.

Hi, Henri-Pierre... that's a cutting template by Voyager.. they have a couple of others, one for straight strips, one for circles and curves.. and a couple for US style stars and the iron cross
