Working on the base. All done with sidewalk. Drybrushing street:

Almost done with pavement. I will try some pigments on it,and maybe a bit more drybrushing.

It is looking good all around. The backgammon board and hooka are specially nice. I think the road is convincing as well.

What you're doing on that exterior is even better than all the cool stuff inside! That is a nice awning for sure.

Thank you. I still have to work on getting the street "dirty". A little trash here and there and some stains.

Hi Marcos,

Beautiful work as always. I must say, I really like the attention you pay to little details - the bolts on the awning roller, the clips holding the electrical conduit, and such - really nice! The awning too - some how you found what really looks like to-scale fabric - nice!

Cheer

Marcos, it's really beginning to look like the Iraqi streets I remember so well. Great work already, the details are top notch!

Thank you john! I was very impressed with Adam Lehmann diorama "Aussie's in Iraq 2006". The size and the level of detail in that piece are just amazing. I have no idea how long it took him to finish, but I expect many months. So I wanted to do something with that level of detail but on a much smaller size. The problem when you go smaller, I think it gets harder to transmit to the viewer the "story" you are trying to depict. Because I think that dioramas should go beyond being just a representation of a static scene just like a photograph. The viewer should be able to deduce what is going on in the scene and imagine also what is going on beyond the scene that has impact on it. I think that is the fun of it. If you get the viewer to let his or her imagination going beyond your small scene, I think you have achieved your goal. Even trigger memories. Cheers to all!

Next I am thinking of building a water Tank for the roof and also add some building materials to the roof as well. A couple of sacks of cement and some construction blocks (the shop owner is getting ready to fix the damage to his building). Some propaganda posters on the walls, and litter the street a bit. Then I will move to the interior.

Again I am away from home for a couple of days. Finnished with propaganda posters, but forgot to take a picture. But I have a tip on that subject: I was going to use some comercially bought posters in 1/35th scale (Alexander, etc.). But found the quality somewhat lacking. So I googled the originals and found most of them and other nice ones on the net. So I saved them, copied them to word and resized them. Print on photo quality on inkjet paper and the result is way better than any I have seen. Hope that helps

Hi Marco, you have made a very nice diorama base !

A lot of details.

I wonder what you will add on it.
