Starting with some volume distribution:

I am thinking of going with the oval base. Where the Porsche is there will be a Takom Japanese SUV.

I am thinking of using an old Verlinden news crew capturing the firefight.

I actually think that diorama looks much better without the Abrams on the base. The figures and store front are much more interesting.

I agree, that dio looks a lot better w/o the Abrams. And Adam I think your dio "Aussies in Iraq" is one of the best. There is just so much detail. What I am trying to do is something way smaller, but with that level of detail.

Some other characters I am thinking of using:

And the layout is something like this:

Anything (except the vehicle) that comes out of the paper will be trimmed. What do you guys think? Size of base ok? or should it be a bit larger? I think this size adds to drama! very little empty space. Again the vehicle will be a Takom Japanese SUV which should be roughly the same size as this 1/32 Mercedes Benz.

The guy in the robe with the glasses maybe looks a bit too Saudi/Kwaiti, but the other character definetly goes inside the store (shop owner?) and will have a cell on his right hand. And the verlinden Characters maybe only the one in the beige robe and will go outside brhind the marine peeking around the corner.

I like your set up. It is always disappointing to see a large dio base with very little on it!!

These are the more "commercial" brands. There will be also all kinds of fruits and vegetables y in baskets and wooden crates.

Hi Marco,

Looking forward to this piece.
I know Verlinden has a newer version of the news crew with more up to date equipment. You may want to look into that.

I thought about it Tom, but I already have the "older" T.V. crew, so I think I am going to go with them. That means I won´t put the CNN logo on the SUV, but maybe Al Jazeera or something like that that.

Pete, I got them from e-bay a while back. the sheet was called "garage kit-modern food and drink cartoon boxes 1/35"I lost the packaging so I am not sure of the brand, But I remember they came from spain. They were something like 2 euros or so.
I just googled them and here:
