Doe anyone know anything about Rye Field Model? They are a new kit manufacturer entering the market in August.

So far that's the only thing I've seen:
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/ryefield-model.html
It looks promising and ambitious for first release. And it looks much like Zvezda kit with Voyager PE (maybe due to styrene color).

Daniel at HobbyEasy told me that he will be getting the sample soon.. and that they told him they are a plastic moulding company.. if that has some relevance? Anyway, he's thinking they may have done some moulds for other modelling companies before. Their first kit may not be very innovative, at least not to me, but it sure looks nicely done

The promo sheet almost reminds me of Dragon. And I am not too pleased with the multi-piece track assembly. Have to attach the guide horns? Really?

Well, for a previously unknown company's (at least under this name) initial release, this seems to be a fair attempt (even though it's yet ANOTHER Tiger l). Much better than Dragon's, or Tamiya's, or Trumpeter's, etc., first produced kits.

My guess is they might be using someone else's mold? That would explain the near-copycat quality of the contents sheet and why the model itself reminds me of one that was released not too long ago. It would not be unheard of in China.

My first hought that this was Dragon re-issuing the DAK Tiger in a roundabout way, but there are a few things going against this. Some of the detail DOES look like Zvezda.
The tracks assemble in the same way Modelkasten Tiger tracks does, and believe me when I say they will test your patience. The end result is great, but it takes forever to get there.
Still, it looks like a nice kit and if the price is right, I may grab one.

Hmmm, I wonder if this will put pressure on Dragon/Cyber Hobby to re-release their DAK Tiger.
I like what I see in the pics, if the tracks are overcomplicated does not bother me that much, easy enough to replace them with simpler versions if one wants.
I wonder how much speculation or negativity about the release will fill this thread before we see the actual kit :-)
The standard "this must be a copy because its made in China" comment is already posted. Just because a data sheet looks the same as someone else's is not really justification for that kind of speculation.
How many of the absolut top model manufacturers come from China these days? They must fill the top five list at least. I would say that the Chinese are the absolute leaders and most innovative producers in the plastic model industry today, shattering the barriers of what we thought could be achieved with plastic moulding technology and releasing exciting subjects we never thought would come in plastic.
They most certainly are not the copiers and followers any more, at least in this particular industry.
Yes, the first Trumpeter kits were rip offs of other kits, but look at what they are producing today.

The familiarity of the CAD, etc. could merely indicate that two firms are using the same CAD system. Check the sprues and the parts if you're comparing to some other kit.
For example, this part...

Nice that we see more model companys, but i can not understand how you can release a Tiger as a first kit when we have so many great kits of that tank...i hope it goes well for them but i think it would have been better to release another Tank as a first kit as i dont think they can win over the Dragon kits...
But i wish them all luck and hope they release a kit one day that i'm intreasted in, then i promise i will buy it... But one more tiger... Thanks but no thanks

I don't know about you guys but I don't think there can ever be too many Tigers. This one looks very interesting. It will be interesting to see what this kit will sell for here in the US. I will get it if the price is right.
I think I'll wait for Mr. Byrden to peruse this kit and give us his take on it.
Sill...another manufacturer in the market place can only be a good thing.

Yes, it's an abundantly kitted subject. It would also be risky to kit something too obscure for a first kit. Given that Dragon released a Tunisia Tiger 6820 recently, this seems too coincidental. And since Dragon seems to have all but abandoned individual links for Panzers, this might be a shot for that niche. Pricing will be interesting to see, as will the kit they actually release.

Ah, but how many of those Tigers have been the actual DAK version? CyberHobby are certainly keeping theirs close to the chest (i.e. no sign of it being re-released) , and as far as I know there are only two ways to build the DAK vehicle: Tamiyas nice but rather old kit, or the resin conversion from TMD for the Dragon early Tigers. The TMD set is superb, by the way :-)
Edit: forgot the recent Dragon Tunisia Tiger, but that vehicle has the rounded shrouds around the exhausts so is slightly different from this one.
On a side note, sorry to all the Tiger experts for calling it the "DAK version". I am obviously not a Tiger expert, but I hope you know what I mean. :-)
David, I am sure its not a great coincidence that the MG lock part is the same/similar in both kits, but perhaps this is just a matter of "imitating something that works for others" rather than this indicating that the entire kit is a copy?
I am sure if we compare Sherman kits from several manufacturers, we could find structural parts that are similar.
Nevertheless, I could of course be wrong in which case I will admit it when we see pics and reviews of the kit.

The recent Dragon kit (6820) is a different version to this. Tool stowage and all of the mudguard components are very different. Nobody would consider them to be competing products.
Tamiya's old kit has several accuracy problems and would not be taken seriously by many modellers.

MSRP is supposed to be about $53. We will see what it actually is when it hits the market.

If the crewman in this tank was not pointing but was rubbing his chin, would you buy it?

The tracks on their display tiger are poorly placed... Bad advertisement for a new company.
