Here is the back side.

I did some filling here, the area may be visible after completion .

Here they are installed. I had to do some trimming on the right side assembly to clear the reinforcing strip.The strip will not be visible.

It's good I filled the seam & push pin marks in the end part as they are visible.

I am not going to be using the hull side skirts, so I made some covers for where they would have mounted.

For posting pictures on the forum I have found I need to set the resolution to 72 pixels/inch and a moderate size say 5 inches height or 360 pixels.

If you want to show higher resolution pictures it's best to do it elsewhere I think - I would use my web site (when I had one grr! @#$%^ comcast!).

Yeah, there's nothing worse than assuming a push mark will be hidden after assembly only to find later it is not! Good move!

I finished the Zimmerit on the left side, installed the spare wheel rack and added some bolts to the botton of the Jack Block mount.


The Jack Block that they give you in the kit is just a square piece of plastic , no wood grain detail at all.
I made my own.

Just to see how it looks in place.

Now for the external air filters.



I replaced the mounting bolts.

I'm working on the Zimmerit for the Turret now.
You should install F26 and the two H24 parts before the Zimmerit.
Doing so will make fitting the Zimmerit easier.

This should finish up the Zimmerit, I'm not going to use it on the ends of the fenders.
Yes I know that a lot of Pics. show it there, I think that it's a stupid waste of time and material.
This build is not to represent any one special vehicle.

Here the Zimmerit is applied to the turret skirt, The hinges for the access doors have been drilled out and pinned to make them workable.




I opened up the securing clips on the inside of the doors.


Finally the Zimmerit is finished, now I can get on to the actual build.

I started working on the engine.
The numbers for the exhaust manifolds E 50 & E 56 are reversed on the instructions the correct parts are shown, just the numbers are wrong.

The left side of the engine.

The right side of the engine.
The box like part mounts to the tabs on the manifold .

Does anyone know what color the engine is supposed to be ?

I have the engine and APU assembled and painted.

First the APU
There is a gear that goes nowhere it's not connected to anything .

The motor isn't connected to the generator.





But I guess it doesn't really matter as not much of this will be visible from under the radiator .

Now the engine , there isn't much use in detailing it too much as once it's installed the most of it you will be able to see is the top part .
I made the belts from thin solder that was slightly flattened .






Once it is installed this is all you will see.

I installed the transmission supports.


I trimmed the pins on the front mounts and tempoarily installed them on the front of the transmission .

Placed the transmission in position and glued the mounts to the transmission. (NOT TO THE FRAME)

Today I have been working on the main Ammo storage boxes.

I used my Pe bending tool to finish the edges.




You will have to drill out the holes in the edges of the parts for the Large box with a #69 drill. Other wise they won't fit.

The front cover is not installed yet.

The Engine side of the Firewall.


A lot of filling needed here.

I've been working on the Brakes .
First I glued C17 & C48 together using H56 as a guide to get them lined up, there are no line up pins or anything to line them up.

Yes I know the Pic says C18 it should be C48 I goofed there.
I glued the 10 parts J4 & 2ea. #K10 to H56 before installing it.

There is a small part # H7 that fits into the brake band H56, trim the sides so it fits.


Here are all the parts installed.



This completes the Right side , repeat with the correct numbers for the left side.

Just test fitting.


The drive shaft to the right side is very loose, I'm not gluing this part until the Transmission and brake assemblies are painted and installed.


There is a lot of nice detail here, unfortunately most of it will not be seen.

Now the Bogie units and Wheels .

Here are the Bogie units , There is a lot of filling and sanding needed here. Also there isn't much detail on the ends of the springs section.


Here they are assembled.



The assembled wheels minus the tires. They will be added after painting.

I have the interior of the lower hull painted it just needs some detailing.

The sponson storage bins need a lot of push pin filling, but they go together reasonably well.

Installed the APU.


Snap the Drive Shaft onto the Engine.

Slide the Drive Shaft through the firewall and connect it to the shaft from the Transmission, then glue the Engine in place.
CAUTION THIS IS A VERY TRICKY FIT




Tomorrow I'll install the interior into the hull.

I installed the side ammo boxes and battery



I slid the interior into the lower hull, you will need to flex the sides of the hull to get it to fit in. The end of the interior should rest against the small ridge on the bottom rear plate.

Here I trimmed the outer section of the left drive shaft to 17mm.

You will need to do this to get the shaft to fit.
Next I installed the left brake unit to the side wall.

I used liquid glue applied around the outside .

Here is how I installed the drive shafts.
First I inserted the left shaft into the brake unit.
If you didn't shorten the shaft it will not fit between the brake and the transmission .

Then I slid the shaft over to contact the transmission and glued both ends.


Next I installed the right side brake unit gluing on the outside the same way as the left one.

Installed the shaft parts to the right brake, (no glue yet)
