It's gotta be something like that, but I doubt that the tractors would go on deployment without the trailers. Perhaps the trailer(s) have been damage beyond repair. Maybe this one is a 'one of a kind' conversion anyway, and if so, it's great to see them utilizing what they've got on hand.

God, I love those guys and gals! [/quote]

Ditto on the feelings. It reminds me of the days in Nam and all the youthful minds working on the same ideas that our young troops today are doing. "Man to be young again in body as well as mind."

Animal....ya gotta stop. It's been a really long day at work, and I've already had a couple of glasses of ' vino' to relax. Your sentiments are a little too close to home for me to process without getting visual 'water'...................I know your intent my friend.

Being an old 'trucker' from way back. The idea that they would be 'Bob-tailing' these things around Iraq are at the very least 'suspect'. From the configuration, and the observation that the items strapped down to the rear of the armoured box are temporary. My guess would be (hopefully), that the rig in question is not hampered from performing it's normal duties as a "Tractor", by the added (let's call it a 'drumbox') structure's immediately behind the Tractor cab area.
My thought is, that it is something designed to assist the Tractor (in regards to defensive armament) in it's normal capacity of trailering it's loads.
In other word's, it might serve as an MG tower of sorts to the otherwise 'defenseless' Big Rig!

I was perusing Webshots.com looking for hummer pics, and I ran across this:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/110449164/113893964ZecKLF

It appears to be the same truck, or one with almost the same modifications. There are a few differences, though. It looks like a spare tire is mounted on the back, and it doesn't have the armor (or whatever that is) above the cab.

Hello
This truck probably belongs to a Trans Company, where they only have the M915 in their inventory. They have to work with what they have. The trailers that the truck tow do not always belong to they unit, many are commercial trailer. Units have to haul and provide their own security. We have a company here (1058 Trans Co) that is unoffically now the 1058th Guntruck Company. Not their regular mission , but they had to adjust.
The trailer used for conversion was probably found laying around in the scrap area, damaged or stripped for parts.

Howdy Fellas,

After perusing through irocarmy88's Webshot's folder again, I came across this local variant. It appears to be a 'Bigfoot' truck with a dump body attached to it with 8"x 8" timbers used for 'armour' plating.
https://gallery.kitmaker.net/data/500/102GT126530924kRGRsJ_ph.jpg" BORDER="0">
This would make an interesting build, and I was wondering if, in fact, this is the 'Bigfoot' (hence, the Italeri kit for the 'base') truck, and where I might find better pics of the dump body itself........
TIA.

The 8" x 8" timbers I can get from Caboose Hobbies.

Yes seen this truck posted on the guntruck site. The dump trucks will make a good gun truck. We had a few in Vietnam. Mostly the Engineering Units had them.

Howdy animal,

Yeah, but from irocarmy88's description, this truck is not originally a 'tipper', but instead, is a standard truck chassis with the dump bed placed on the frame rails sans the required hydraulics......hence my query.
Being the truck expert, maybe you can take a good look at the photo (there's a couple more at irocarmy88's 'Webshots' page) and tell me what you think?
