Just would like to hear some of the different suggestions to building, bashing or converging a Guntruck. I have seen all the pics off the net , but I would like to see the creativeness that you guys have to make something fictional. Thanks and looking forward to what you guys have to say.

These were built for the T2F 2003 Campaign. I am working on a harden LAV Convoy security vehicle right now for the T2K 2004 Campaign.

Just for the record guys, (OhYeahArmour and armor 135). Even though our good member 'animal' is too humble to say it to you directly. Not only is he an obviously superbly talented GunTruck modeler.......but......he is an actual veteran of the real deal!

...just thought you might want to know. Since he is a vet that deserve's the proper credit for his courage and his service to our country at a time when returning soldier's got very little.

Tread.

Sorry, just didn't want it to go unsaid......again.

Thanks for the kind words Tread.
You can build a gun truck with the 2 1/2 ton kit and a little plastic stock for a lot cheaper than a resin kit. I can send you some dimensions on one of the 2 1/2 ton trucks if you want.

I wasn't assigned duty on the gun trucks. I drove water trucks and the Batt. recovery vehicle. I was on many convoys and have seen the trucks in action. I thank the Allmighty every day for the crews who served on them.

I was aware of this animal. You have already stated your service in previous posts. I just wanted people to know you were there and on the ground!
But just to be even more clear, since I'm a bit slow. let me get this straight.
You were driving Convoy duty...in a lumbering, slow moving large sized (target) truck....in ambush territory....under a constant state of 'general quarters'....with absolutely NO armour plating.......NO armament, besides small arms......AND NO protection other than a GT that could be up to (according to 'hardened convoy' discipline) a thousand yards away!?!..............Man......you've got 'boys' of steel!!!

Tread you are a funny guy #:-). I only did what a thousand other guys had to do. No big deal. We had a saying in Nam. "Don't mean nuthin, it ain't nuthin but a thing". When I answered the last post I was answering OhYeaArmor's question.

Thanks for the Kudos Cuhail and welcome to Armorama. Our Gunnie also builds some fantastic examples of the Vietnam era Gun Trucks http://www.guntruck.com/ You should check out his web site. I know you will be as impress with his work as I am. Even though he wasn't in Nam we Nam Vets consider him a Brother Vet (He served in the US Air Force as a Security Specialist).

Howdy Fellas,

Speaking of GunTruck's, I know this is probably a little but....I thought you guys would get a kick out of this pic.
This is a WW II era Australian GunTruck of the highest order!!

Take a close look and check out the armament she's packin'!
Not entirely sure, but I don't think any of the GT's in the 'Nam were packing AT guns!

Sweet stuff huh?

Tread.

Been seeing all the interesting posts on guntrucks. I know very little about this subject. All I know is that they were used to provide cover for convoys. Are most guntrucks field modified. Most trucks don't look like they are standard manufacture. The crazy armored cabs and fighting compartments leads me to believe the crews salvaged anything they can to upgrade.
