Hello,
As a fanatic panzer modeller sometimes I like a little variety of something new.
This time its a very old Italeri kit presenting the Big Foot 5 ton track.
The build will be upgraded with the Eduard PE set and DEF resin wheels - in my opinion You shouldn't start build of this kit without that.
Lets see, how far I will get with this project

You definitely need the new wheels, the PE not so much. Here is Pawel's article on super-detailing the M923A1.
It is rough, but can come out really nice w/some TLC.

Legend makes a M923 detail set:
http://www-legend.co.kr/portfolio/lf1244-m923-detailing-set/
I think it can be used to detail up the M925 too. Isn't the M925 a M923 with a winch at the front?
Will be watching your build, I intend to do something similar.

Either version can have the winch. An M923 has the six big wheels. An M925 has 10 wheels like a civilian truck.

I had not a good experience with this kit. Assembly are in general bad and poor or wrong details on all the kit.
Can't wait to see your built.

Thank you for the clarification sir. I was a little confused on that matter.

There is a ring mount added above the passenger seat. The gunner stands on the folded down seat back to fire the gun.
Italeri's M923A1 kit comes with the ring mount parts as an option, as shown on the boxart.

If you need a good reference book, look at wings and wheels publication. They made a really good reference book for the M923 truck series!

The cab is tricky to assemble (the walls come in multiple parts) and getting the exhaust to aline with the cab assembly also takes a lot of dry fitting and planning ahead. The wheels definitely need aftermarket replacements.

OK thank you. It is strange gunner platforms are rarely represented in kits.

you are correct about the difference between the m923 and the m925. 925 has the winch. 923 does not. either one can have 10 tires or the 6 super single tires. m923 would be a m925 if it had a winch. I own a m925 with the winch and had the 10 smaller tires and changed them to the 6 super singles. hope this helps you.

The may is always a good time, to speed a bit with the projects like that.
So I've made some major progres with the cab replacing a lot of elements to PE parts
The main elements of the construction frame are in place
I've alredy replaced the interior parts and remake the seats fabric structure
Hope to spray the surfracer soon

Looks like it is coming along well. A note on the cab interior though. The M900 series trucks have automatic transmissions. The gear shift lever (Italeri got that wrong) and clutch pedal should not be there. There is a T-bar on top of the box coming off the instrument panel for shifting into gear ranges and a central, large brake pedal.

Thanks for the photos, looks like Italeri didn't make homework as it should be done.
I'm making the version with the hood, so there will not be a lot to see inside the cab.
Anyway, even the Eduard did'nt correct this parts.

Build it how you like, but it is still easy to fix at this point. I would want it accurately portrayed.

Close, but still not entirely correct. M923 has 10 wheels and no winch. M925 has 10 wheels and a winch. With six larger wheels they become M923A1 and M925A1 respectively, and with the CTIS (central tire inflation system) they become M923A2 and M925A2.

Looking good. The bed should have no lines either. It is a solid sheet of steel.
